Chapter 48: A Harsh Punishment

Not long after White Fox left, Scar Mouse came sprinting out of the underground passage and arrived at the scene.
The instant he got there, he froze.
The ground was covered in blood, and more than a dozen bodies lay scattered across it. Black Tiger, their once high-and-mighty leader, had been reduced to a limbless torso and was sprawled on the ground, barely clinging to life.
Scar Mouse stared at Liu Yang in disbelief and could not help exclaiming, “My God, what happened here? Did I stumble into a battlefield from hell? I came as fast as I could, but I still missed the whole fight! You—you’re unbelievably strong!”
He then walked over to Falcon’s corpse and spat on it.
“Pah! You idiot. You were always throwing your weight around in front of me. Why aren’t you showing off now? You’re dead beyond dead, aren’t you? That’s what you get for looking down on me, Lord Mouse!”
When Black Tiger saw Scar Mouse arrive, he immediately realized that it was because Scar Mouse had betrayed them and revealed their location that Liu Yang had found this place—and that the tragedy had occurred.
Gnashing his teeth, he shouted at Scar Mouse, “Scar Mouse! You traitor! This all happened because you were the first to betray the base! If I’d known you were a traitor, I would have killed you long ago!”
Scar Mouse merely wore a smug expression and said without the slightest concern, “Back when I was in this base, not a single person respected me. I’d be delighted if every one of you died. What does ‘betrayal’ even mean?
“You make it sound as though you ever treated me like one of your own.
“And besides, do you have any idea whom you provoked? Even if I hadn’t informed on you, you would have gone after him eventually. Wouldn’t you have ended up dead all the same?”
Black Tiger spat at him.
“Pah! You useless coward, you still dare make excuses? A spineless turncoat like you will be despised wherever you go! You think you’ve found yourself a powerful patron? Who would ever trust a traitor like you?”
“That’s none of your concern. You’d better worry about how much longer you’re going to live.”
After saying that, Scar Mouse ignored Black Tiger and instead surveyed the other people lying on the ground.
It did not take long for him to notice that someone was missing. His expression changed, and he hurriedly said to Liu Yang, “Boss! Someone’s missing! The second-in-command of this base—White Fox. That madwoman is extremely powerful, and she’s completely insane. If we don’t eliminate her, she could come back for revenge!”
Black Tiger was the strongest person in the base, but White Fox was no weakling either.
What was more, that woman’s mind worked in a bizarre way. She never considered the consequences, had no plans whatsoever, and simply did whatever she pleased. One moment she might be chatting and laughing with you; the next, she might draw her blade and kill you.
That was why Scar Mouse feared White Fox intensely—more, in fact, than he feared Black Tiger.
“Who’s talking behind my back?”
A woman’s voice rang out.

The moment he heard that voice, Scar Mouse’s expression changed dramatically. Terror appeared on his face, and he immediately hid behind Liu Yang, whispering, “It’s White Fox. That’s her voice!”
A moment later, White Fox entered with Black Tiger’s daughter.
The sight of her drove Black Tiger into a frenzy. His eyes nearly bulged from their sockets as he cursed, “White Fox! May you die a miserable death! You filthy woman! I’ll make sure you die without a grave!”
Scar Mouse looked from Black Tiger to White Fox, completely bewildered.
What was going on?
Had Black Tiger lost his mind? Why was he even cursing White Fox, the second-in-command?
White Fox was the only one still alive. Shouldn’t she have been his last hope of survival?
Why was he insulting her?
White Fox paid no attention to his abuse. Instead, she smiled at Liu Yang.
“Handsome, I brought you your spoils. Black Tiger’s biological daughter—she just turned eighteen, and she’s as fresh and delicate as they come.”
Liu Yang looked the girl up and down.
She had a delicate, refined face with a touch of baby fat. Her skin was white as snow, smooth and tender, and she looked so fresh and delicate that she seemed almost to glisten.
Black Tiger was clearly a capable man. Even after the apocalypse arrived, he had never allowed his daughter to suffer. She had continued living a life of luxury, scarcely different from the one she had known in peaceful times.
In terms of appearance alone, she was unquestionably a beauty among thousands, with looks that could rival those of He Yushi, the campus belle.
Now, however, faced with corpses strewn across the ground, Black Tiger’s daughter trembled in terror.
Fear was written across her face. Yet when she saw Black Tiger reduced to a limbless torso, she strangely showed not the slightest trace of grief.
Looking at the beautiful girl, Liu Yang nodded.
“Not bad. She has potential. Take her to the room next door.”
A beauty like her was an excellent candidate for bearing children. Even if she had not been Black Tiger’s daughter and Liu Yang had merely encountered her by chance on the road, he would not have let her go. He would have taken her without hesitation.
After all, with the system’s support, every woman was a source of strength for Liu Yang.
To him, it was better to make a mistake than to miss any opportunity to become stronger.
The moment Black Tiger heard Liu Yang’s words, he began shouting desperately.
“No! No! Kill me instead! Kill me! Spare my daughter!”
White Fox thrust her knife into Black Tiger’s mouth and twisted it viciously, instantly shredding his tongue. Then she said coldly, “Shut up! Don’t ruin the handsome man’s mood! Stay outside and listen carefully to your daughter’s screams.”

Inside the room, Liu Yang looked at the girl and asked, “You know what’s going to happen next, don’t you? Are you afraid?”
“Yes,” the girl answered honestly.
Liu Yang continued, “If you want someone to blame, blame your father. He shouldn’t have set his sights on my woman. You’re the price he has to pay.”
“I don’t want to be his price,” the girl said. “He isn’t my father anymore. If possible, I want to pay this price for myself. I’ll do everything I can to please you. Spare my life.”
Liu Yang was surprised.
“Oh? You don’t acknowledge him? But when you were brought in, he was screaming so desperately. It seemed he cared about you deeply. And look at how miserable he is now. You don’t feel sad at all?”
The girl shook her head.
“Why should I feel anything for a piece of human garbage?
“The moment he shoved my mother toward the zombies so he could buy himself time to escape, he stopped being my father. The only reason he treated me well afterward was because he felt guilty.
“I imagined countless times that he would die in front of me. Now my wish has finally come true.”
Liu Yang was stunned by her words.
He had never expected Black Tiger to have pushed his own wife toward the zombies in order to escape.
What a ruthless man.
Liu Yang was ruthless too, but only toward his enemies—not toward his own wife. Even he found Black Tiger’s actions shocking.
Now, however, Liu Yang began to hesitate.
He had originally intended to force himself upon Black Tiger’s daughter as revenge for Black Tiger laying hands on his woman.
But now he knew that Black Tiger’s daughter felt no affection for him at all. She had rejected him as her father long ago.
Did that mean she was merely an innocent woman?
Seeing the hesitation on Liu Yang’s face, the girl spoke first.
“Come. I’m ready.”
Liu Yang said, “Uh… Since you no longer regard Black Tiger as your father, I don’t have to punish you as his daughter. I’ll be gentle.”
But the girl replied firmly, “No. You must punish me. Punish me harshly—and I want to scream as loudly as possible. I want him to hear me and suffer a fate worse than death. I want him to die burdened by guilt.”
