Chapter 9: The Cat Bite

Sang Fuying looked at Moer, who had just sat down beside her, with a startled gaze, her heart pounding wildly. Could the person who bit her in that dark, terrifying place yesterday be this young master? Wait, that person’s eyes were also peacock green, but the expressions were vastly different—two entirely unrelated impressions. The former’s eyes resembled those of a bloodthirsty beast, a demon. The latter’s eyes were like the gentlest, most serene deity in the world.
“May I ask, can I sit here? It seems the others don’t quite like me,” Moer politely inquired after sitting down.
Sang Fuying nodded, “Of course you can.”
“What happened to your hand?” she asked, staring at the bite mark on Moer’s hand.
Moer glanced down at the teeth marks on the webbing of his hand and casually replied, “A cat bit me.”
A cat? Since when do cats have human-like teeth? Have the cats here evolved into humans? Well, it kind of seemed so, or perhaps humans have evolved into beastmen?
“Xiao Bu, this person beside me—is he the one who tried to kill me in that place yesterday?” Sang Fuying asked in the system space.
Xiao Bu replied: [Host, I don’t know either. I can only provide a list of detected dangerous individuals. You should have some impression of the person you met yesterday, right?]
“If it is him, will he try to kill me when he gets the chance?”
Xiao Bu: [A terrorist with a danger rating of ten stars, very likely. So host, you must protect yourself well!]
Sang Fuying was speechless. The system’s warning was as good as nothing! She had read many online novels bored in the hospital bed, where the system granted the protagonists all kinds of godlike powers, but the real system she got couldn’t even transmit the most basic memories to her!
When class time came, Sang Fuying, who had already missed a month of lessons, found the complex content so dull it made her sleepy, much like her high school physics classes.
The man sitting beside her wasn’t paying attention either. His elegant fingertips held a pen, sketching something on the electronic drawing tablet on the desk.
Sang Fuying glanced discreetly; he was drawing a butterfly—a blue butterfly.
Seeing the blue butterfly reminded her of something she learned in biology class: blue butterflies are poisonous, possessing a mesmerizing beauty that is also deadly. One must avoid touching them.

Bored and propping her head up, Sang Fuying had stayed up too late last night studying survival guides, then got up early for school. The lessons were confusing, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.
The girl tilted her head, and her smooth hair brushed against the back of the person beside her’s hand.
Just by getting close, a faint, dreamy fragrance enveloped him.
Moer narrowed his eyes, a hint of curiosity hidden in their depths.
Only when the girl rested her head on his shoulder did the scent shift from elusive to distinct—an elegant and pure aroma like white plum blossoms in the snow.
Could this little one be the female who comforted him yesterday?
The butler had said the only female who entered the territory might have already died—that notorious playgirl, Miss Ailer.
If a female dies, the spiritual mark she leaves on the male disappears. The blue butterfly in his consciousness was still fluttering energetically, looking vibrant and alive—far from fading away like it would if its owner had died.
When Sang Yao and Zhou Ying entered the classroom, they saw a captivating scene in the back corner.
The delicate, fair girl was sleeping soundly, leaning on the broad shoulder of the blonde young master.
Zhou Ying’s lips curled up slightly. “No wonder. I was wondering why your young lady and the Lesterlin young master came to school together today. Congratulations, it seems your niece has successfully won over the young master. You don’t have to worry anymore, yet you still come here yourself to deliver her school card.”
Sang Yao squinted slightly, smiling mockingly, “No wonder.”
He had truly thought she had decided to improve herself after witnessing the cruel reality of defective females in the Lesterlin estate.
Turns out, she had actually hooked up with the young master.
Sang Yao handed the school card to Zhou Ying. “Please give this to her; I won’t go in.”
Though he really disliked the niece his brother had brought home, seeing her act so intimately with another male inexplicably irritated him.
Even worse, it reminded him of last night in his bedroom and that enchanting female scent...
She must have used some sort of perfume to lure males.
Moer looked up and met Sang Yao’s gaze as the latter left the classroom. In that brief glance, Moer saw unmistakable hostility from a male towards another male.
Unfazed, Moer withdrew his gaze and lowered his head to continue refining the details of the blue butterfly on his tablet.

After class, Sang Fuying was startled awake by the bell, realizing her head was resting on Moer’s shoulder!
When had she fallen asleep? And how had she ended up leaning on Moer?
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to!” Sang Fuying hurriedly apologized.
“It’s okay,” Moer replied politely, seemingly indifferent.
His long, clean fingers tapped on the desk, then pushed a school card with a name written on it toward Sang Fuying.
She looked up and met those frosted eyes behind silver-rimmed glasses.
They were chillingly beautiful eyes, like frozen silver crystals tinged with icy blue, but at that moment, they looked teasingly at her.
“Be careful about dating. Your uncle hopes you’ll study well. Also, Moer, drawing in class is inappropriate,” Zhou Ying said gently, as if trying to maintain a dignified demeanor while coaxing a child.
Moer put down his electronic stylus and looked up at Zhou Ying. “Teacher Zhou, is the Federal University a kindergarten? Aren’t you a professor, but a kindergarten homeroom teacher?”
Sang Fuying’s gaze bounced between the two handsome faces in front of her. “No, we’re not dating. I was just too sleepy during class and accidentally leaned on his shoulder to sleep!”
Zhou Ying’s usually aloof face bloomed with a warm smile. “It’s okay if you’re dating, but next time, don’t let your uncle see it; he’ll get angry.”
After saying that, he left, leaving Sang Fuying deep in thought.
“My uncle was here just now?”
“Yes, your uncle is Sang Yao, right? If so, he was here earlier.”
Those words exploded in Sang Fuying’s mind.
So her uncle had seen her leaning on a male classmate’s shoulder while sleeping? That was even more embarrassing than accidentally walking into her uncle’s bedroom to bathe last night!
When Sang Fuying returned home in the evening, Sang Yao was not back yet. Not knowing his schedule, she waited downstairs in the living room, pondering how to explain why she hadn’t paid attention in class and had accidentally fallen asleep on a classmate’s shoulder.
