He Yunfei listened to the bustling chatter around him, his brow involuntarily furrowing as he thought to himself: This time, the trouble is far greater and more complicated than I imagined.

Though he was usually clever and composed in handling affairs—never flustered no matter how thorny the situation—today a strange unease quietly stirred within him. That faint thread of worry, like a delicate spiderweb, wrapped tightly around his heart, lending his eyes a heavier, more vigilant gaze.

He pondered silently the myriad challenges and crises that might lie ahead, his fingers tapping lightly and subconsciously on his briefcase as if to bolster his resolve or strategize a response.

Since an inspection was underway, everyone cooperated, handing over their IDs one by one. Yet no one expected the man who appeared to be an undercover policeman to ignore the IDs entirely and stride straight up to He Yunfei, pointing fiercely at his briefcase and demanding an inspection. Then, turning to all the passengers, he shouted loudly, “Everyone get off! This no longer concerns you!”

Seeing the passengers’ troubled expressions, Gao Xinxin hurried forward to explain, “Officer, I’m the tour guide. These tourists have all passed security checks; there’s no problem.”

But the man’s eyes flashed with fury as he snarled, “None of your business! Get out of the way!”

Gao Xinxin’s temper flared instantly. “If you’re going to check, fine, but what right do you have to insult people?”

“I said what I said. What are you going to do about it?” the man replied with blatant arrogance, showing no sign of restraint.

“No one should be insulted...” “Exactly...” “There’s no excuse for that...” A chorus of discontent rose up within the carriage.

The man growled impatiently, “Stop stirring trouble! If anyone dares speak again, I’ll arrest them!”

Seeing his fierce manner, no one dared to argue. They reluctantly disembarked. But He Yunfei found the man’s words all the more suspicious and felt an eerie familiarity about him.

Just as He Yunfei prepared to disembark with the top-secret documents inside his briefcase, the man suddenly lunged to snatch it. Yunfei reacted instantly, realizing this was a carefully orchestrated trap.

He swiftly blocked the man’s arm with precision. Without hesitation, the man used his other hand to grab again. The two locked in a tense struggle within the cramped carriage, like a game of Tai Chi push hands.

From the force exchanged, He Yunfei sensed that his opponent was a trained martial artist with formidable skills. Clearly, someone was targeting this confidential file with ill intent. He dared not slacken, promptly unleashing his “Old Vine Entwining Branches” technique—his arms weaving like nimble vines to twist the man’s arm behind his back, immobilizing him.

The man struggled fiercely but found escape impossible. Suddenly, twisting with a cunning maneuver, he broke free from the opposite direction, then swiftly launched a powerful sidekick with such force that the seat nearly flew off, plunging the carriage into chaos.

A fierce fight erupted in the narrow space.

He Yunfei quickly deduced from the opponent’s sharp, fluid moves that he was a taekwondo expert. Using the limited space to his advantage, He Yunfei moved deftly, striving to seize the upper hand.

Seizing an opening, he grabbed the man’s arm and pressed down hard, eliciting a pained cry. But his opponent was no pushover, expertly flipping He Yunfei in an attempt to pin him down.

Yet He Yunfei was quicker, employing his “Magpie Perching on Branch” technique, leaping lightly to throw the man head over heels. The man rolled nimbly, sprang up, and charged again with ferocious energy.

They exchanged blows and counters in rapid succession, intertwining limbs and grappling fiercely within the confined carriage—a breathtaking duel.

At that critical moment, Gao Xinxin’s shrill cry pierced the air, “Help! The police are here! Someone, please help!” Passengers echoed her calls, “Police, come quickly!”

The man panicked, and in desperation grabbed the briefcase and hurled it out the window. He Yunfei, anxious, lunged to retrieve it but was firmly held back.

Suddenly, several people dressed in dinosaur costumes hurried over. Gao Xinxin recognized them as the same “dinosaurs” from the parade at the dinosaur park earlier.

One “dinosaur” caught the briefcase and bolted. But driver Liu Wei, quick and alert, blocked his path.

The man restrained by He Yunfei seized the chance to break free, leapt off the vehicle, and lunged at Liu Wei.

At the critical moment, Gao Xinxin dashed forward like lightning, launching a swift flying kick that knocked the briefcase from the “dinosaur’s” hands, then kicked him several meters away.

This swift, precise action stunned He Yunfei—he had never imagined this seemingly delicate tour guide possessed such formidable skill.

Without hesitation, He Yunfei sprang forward, just about to catch the briefcase when two motorcycles suddenly sped from the roadside. Their riders, also in dinosaur suits, charged straight at him.

He Yunfei reacted with his “Hawk’s Flip” technique, twisting his body midair to narrowly evade the oncoming bikes. Yet in that instant, another rider snatched the briefcase.

Refusing to give up, He Yunfei swiftly grabbed the rider who had collided with him, yanked him off the bike, steadied the falling vehicle, mounted it, and pursued the fleeing thieves at breakneck speed.

Gao Xinxin called out to Liu Wei, “Driver Liu, take the other passengers back first. I’ll be right back.” She waved down a taxi and sped off in another direction.

Seeing their heist succeed but sensing the danger of being surrounded, the remaining thieves swiftly fled the scene.

Watching the thieves’ hasty retreat, everyone suddenly realized these were no police officers but impostors. The passengers inside the carriage, filled with righteous indignation, surged with energy as if electrified, shouting, “Police... don’t run... police...”

The thieves with the briefcase and He Yunfei raced madly down the road. For He Yunfei, losing this file would spell disaster. He was as anxious as ants on a hot pan. Ahead, the dinosaur-suited rider weaved unpredictably like an elusive phantom, trying to shake off his pursuer.

He Yunfei threw caution to the wind, flooring the throttle, gritting his teeth in pursuit…

Meanwhile, due to a special situation at the Neutrino Experiment Station, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the China New Energy Research Center attached great importance and urgently notified Director Lin Yizhou of the Southwest Science Institute to temporarily oversee the frozen experiment station. Su Chunyang was suspended but still required to participate in related work without slackening.

With a special envoy arriving in Beijing today, Director Lin convened a joint scientists’ meeting at the Southwest Science Institute. All members eagerly awaited the presentation of the “Frozen DF Plan.”

The meeting focused on resolving issues related to the neutrino station and new energy, striving to find solutions and avert crises.

Leading the discussions were renowned paleontologist and paleoanthropologist Zhao Xinru from the Kunming Biological Research Center, along with her student, biologist and medical doctor Jamie Qingyuan. Their focus centered on the appearance of ancient life and early humans in the spacetime mirror—issues not only at the frontier of scientific research but potentially deeply impactful on humanity’s understanding of itself and the cosmos.

Professor Su’s assistant, Zhou Huifang, who had never met Professor Zhao before, observed the petite woman of about fifty, wearing black-rimmed glasses perched on her nose, her figure slightly plump, a slender feminine cigarette held between her fingers—a unique posture that exuded an air of uncommon boldness.

Unable to resist curiosity, Zhou quietly asked Jamie about her. Jamie eagerly introduced, “This is my biology mentor, Professor Zhao Xinru. She’s a nationally renowned expert in paleontology and paleoanthropology, specializing in resurrecting live ancient DNA cells...”

Hearing their conversation, Professor Zhao smiled faintly and joked, “I’m just here to broaden my horizons.”

No one expected that Zhou Huifang, trained in high-energy physics, would suddenly say, “Oh, I know. Life originated from the boundless universe of the Big Bang, evolving spirally through the chaotic world, from boundlessness to Taiji. Though single cells mark the beginning of many lifeforms, they are not singular but diverse... That’s from your book, isn’t it?”

Jamie and Zhao exchanged astonished glances.

Slightly embarrassed, Zhou blushed and said, “Professor Zhao, I often heard Qingyuan talk about your research on Earth’s changes and dinosaur evolution, so I looked up your book, ‘Biological Evolution and Human Propagation’...”

The three shared a smile, and the atmosphere instantly grew light and harmonious.
