Jiang Yi sighed helplessly, rubbing his head. "It probably isn’t that. I’m quite certain these are my own abilities, not some system from a transmigration or rebirth novel. But honestly, I can’t fully explain it either. To be frank, just like you, I’m still figuring out how to use my powers."

Guo Hanxue took a sip of the Tianquan water, her eyes gleaming. “Wow, it tastes amazing! Your abilities are truly incredible—I envy you so much for having such a useful power!”

Jiang Yi smirked. “I envy your power too. You know, because of my ability, I almost got myself killed!” He then briefly recounted how his body was ‘reset’ when he first gained his power, painting a grim picture of his initial ordeal.

Guo Hanxue chuckled quietly, half amused and half sympathetic. Compared to Jiang Yi, she felt quite fortunate to have a wind-based ability. Her power had been enough to protect herself from the start, and it hadn’t weakened her physique—in fact, it had strengthened it considerably. In contrast, Jiang Yi’s ability seemed perilous enough that few could survive its early stages safely.

It was easy to imagine just how dangerous awakening Jiang Yi’s power had been.

After clearing up previous misunderstandings and sharing insights about their abilities, the two grew more trusting of each other.

Jiang Yi’s power was undeniably strong, but it came with numerous limitations—and hidden pitfalls he hadn’t yet discovered. It was entirely possible he might one day be undone by his own abilities.

Thinking of this, Guo Hanxue confidently patted her chest. “Don’t worry—now that I’m here, I’ll make sure you never get into trouble again!”

Jiang Yi glanced at her ample curves and couldn’t help but tease, “You? Yeah, right. You nearly got me killed just now!”

Guo Hanxue froze, not quite understanding. Jiang Yi sighed. “Haven’t you realized? Your wind ability is powerful, but your combat instincts are terrible! I almost got accidentally hurt by you several times. And even though you knew that the evolved zombies aren’t afraid of regular arrows, you still didn’t use your powers! I don’t know how you became the leader of the archery club…”

Hearing this, Guo Hanxue felt her face flush hot with embarrassment. Indeed, her previous performance was hardly commendable. If she had even half of Jiang Yi’s courage and combat awareness, her sharp abilities would have prevented any zombies from getting close.

“Well, I’m a girl—fighting and killing just isn’t for me!” she stubbornly replied.

Jiang Yi shrugged. “Tell that to the zombies and see if they’ll stop eating you just because you’re a girl.”

Guo Hanxue twisted her fingers in frustration. “I don’t want to! I just panic when fighting. What else can I do?”

Jiang Yi patted her shoulder with a sinister grin. “Don’t worry. To make you a reliable partner, I’m going to train you!”

Guo Hanxue shivered and eyed him suspiciously. “What do you mean?”

As she tried to back away, Jiang Yi grabbed her with a laugh. “Of course, I mean to teach you how to fight and use your powers properly!” Ignoring her protests, he dragged her toward the first floor…

“Don’t back down. Keep your eyes on the zombie’s face! Decide where to strike and act decisively!” Ten minutes later, Guo Hanxue, pale-faced, gripped the firefighting axe Jiang Yi had given her, staring wide-eyed as he released two zombies…

She wasn’t new to killing zombies, but before, she had relied on her exceptional archery and unparalleled abilities.

Now, with her bow broken and her power nearly depleted, Guo Hanxue’s legs felt weak. Even knowing she didn't have to fear infection, she couldn’t help but want to turn and run.

Unfortunately, Jiang Yi wasn’t about to give her the chance.

Because the first floor had a large hall, there weren’t many dormitories. After assessing the numbers, Jiang Yi directly unleashed the two zombies toward Guo Hanxue.

Screaming, Guo Hanxue twisted and dodged. Her wind-based power granted her speed beyond that of ordinary people—in fact, even Jiang Yi, with a speed stat of 13, sometimes struggled to track her movements.

But zombies were relentless in their pursuit of food. No matter how fast Guo Hanxue was, the narrow corridor allowed them to corner her repeatedly.

“Jiang Yi, you bastard, come save me!” she called anxiously, propping the axe against a zombie’s arm.

Jiang Yi, smiling, leaned behind her, holding a decapitating blade but offering no help. “Careful of the claws! Yes, dodge left! Swing! Ugh, so clumsy…” Instead of assisting, he kept commenting on Guo Hanxue’s every move.

Frustrated beyond words but powerless to stop him, Guo Hanxue muttered, “You wait. I’ll get my powers back!”

Despite her harsh words, she gradually calmed under the pressure of the two zombies. Focusing her mind, she realized that ordinary zombies posed very little threat to her.

Even without her bow, she seemed capable of easily killing them.

Following Jiang Yi’s ‘advice,’ Guo Hanxue nimbly evaded the zombies’ attempts to trap her, ducked under their outstretched arms, and delivered a powerful kick to the back of one’s knee, knocking it to the ground.

The other zombie turned to bite her, but she brought the axe down hard on its head, embedding it firmly.

The zombie collapsed. The one on the ground still hadn’t risen. Seizing the opportunity, Guo Hanxue chopped its neck with the axe again.

Panting heavily, she finally eliminated both zombies.

Unbeknownst to her, two faint, dimly glowing orbs appeared on the fallen zombies and shot into her chest. Jiang Yi, who had been observing her stats, brightened. His experience points had mysteriously increased by 0.7.

Though barely noticeable, it proved that in team mode, teammates could indeed grant each other experience points.

Whether Guo Hanxue herself gained experience remained unknown to Jiang Yi for the moment. What concerned him more was that despite killing two zombies, no new items appeared in his inventory. Perhaps zombies killed by teammates didn’t drop loot?

If that was true, it could be a disadvantage for him.

Still, Jiang Yi wasn’t overly worried. Zombies were the most numerous creatures worldwide—they were practically endless. He couldn’t expect to defeat them all alone.

“How’s that? Feeling good?” Jiang Yi smiled as he approached the still panting Guo Hanxue.

A sly glint flashed in her eyes. Just as Jiang Yi got close, she stomped hard on his foot. Jiang Yi hadn’t expected such childish behavior. By the time he registered it, his entire right foot throbbed painfully.

“Ow… ow! You’re ruthless! Oh my god, it’s swollen!” Jiang Yi sat down, rubbing his foot incessantly.

Guo Hanxue tossed her hair arrogantly. “Hmph, now don’t you dare bully me anymore. That’s your punishment!”

Jiang Yi looked up at her youthful and radiant figure, momentarily stunned before quickly recovering. Grinning, he hopped on one leg. “I won’t, I won’t! Miss, shall we continue?”

Guo Hanxue felt a bit guilty seeing his apparent pain but knew he was doing this for her own good.

There was no denying her poor combat awareness, and Jiang Yi’s method was indeed a fast way to help her improve.

Though she protested verbally, Guo Hanxue resolutely completed one kill after another.

Jiang Yi watched his experience points rise steadily and couldn’t help but grin foolishly…

The effortless training session soon ended. Just as Guo Hanxue and Jiang Yi were catching their breath, they suddenly realized Guo Hanxue had single-handedly wiped out all the zombies on the entire first floor.

Looking at her now, not a trace of cleanliness remained. Her whole body was stained with grime; her face and hair splattered with zombie blood.

When Jiang Yi announced the training was over, she finally relaxed from her tense state. Turning around, she stared in shock at the corridor strewn with corpses and whispered, “Did I really do all this?”

She had never imagined that without her bow, relying solely on an axe, she could kill an entire floor’s worth of zombies without a scratch.

Even more shocked was Jiang Yi. Though his expression was calm, inside he felt as if he’d been struck hard.

Preliminary calculations showed Guo Hanxue had earned him 8 experience points—meaning she had slain around 20 zombies on her own.

This wasn’t like Jiang Yi’s own cunning tactics exploiting terrain advantages. Each of those 20 zombies had faced Guo Hanxue without any restrictions, sometimes attacking in groups of up to five.

Yet, with Jiang Yi’s guidance, Guo Hanxue had managed to kill them all without serious injury.

Her face was calm, but deep down Jiang Yi was stunned. What a joke—this girl’s combat power far exceeded his own!

Even though Jiang Yi was fast, overall he was far inferior to Guo Hanxue—and remember, her specialty wasn’t close combat. When his advantage was still less than her disadvantage, which man wouldn’t be frustrated?

Knowing her battle performance, Guo Hanxue was visibly excited, bouncing around while gathering supplies.

Jiang Yi, on the other hand, looked rather dispirited, muttering quietly to himself as he watched her lively figure…
