Chapter 27: Abducting Seito

Kaito's expression was solemn, as if he had accomplished something of great significance. When he saw Li Zhitian sitting on the ground, completely broken in spirit, he finally sheathed his blade and stood upright. The scene fell into an intense silence! Even Jiang Yi couldn’t help but gape in astonishment...
He knew Kaito was strong, but never imagined his strength would surpass expectations so vastly!
Li Zhitian was not only highly skilled, but he had also awakened the ability of speed! The combination made him possibly even stronger than Guo Hanxue. Yet, such a formidable opponent couldn’t withstand even three moves from Kaito and was defeated outright!
My god... what level of power does Kaito truly possess...
Everyone snapped out of their shock, and fear and regret flickered in their eyes as they looked at Kaito. Zhu Caijun’s face, standing among them, shifted constantly—deep reluctance mingled with a hint of satisfaction...
But now was not the time to dwell on that. Kaito’s strength exceeded all expectations, so the plan must be adjusted.
With this in mind, Zhu Caijun cleared his throat and took a few steps forward. “Kaito, it was Zhitian’s fault earlier. We've all been under too much pressure lately, and his temper isn’t good. He lost control momentarily. I apologize on his behalf. Let’s just forget it and work together to wait for rescue.”
Zhu Caijun’s words sought to soothe Kaito. Kaito looked at him without a word, but his sharp eyes revealed a clear, lucid intelligence that silenced all the excuses Zhu Caijun had prepared...
Jiang Yi smiled slightly at the unfolding scene. He never expected that in such a small gymnasium, there would be hidden dragons and crouching tigers. With only a dozen or so people, it was like a palace intrigue drama!
But he had no intention of entangling with these people. Since Kaito saved his life, Jiang Yi didn’t want him trapped in this quagmire any longer.
“How about it, classmate? My blade isn’t bad, right?” Jiang Yi, supporting his right hand, approached the still recovering Li Zhitian. Li Zhitian stared dumbfoundedly at Jiang Yi, overwhelmed with complex emotions. If not for this guy, he wouldn’t have fought Kaito, much less been defeated so utterly!
“It’s all your fault! If it weren’t for you, they wouldn’t have fought! You’re nothing but a troublemaker!” someone suddenly shouted from behind Zhu Caijun.
Zhu Caijun’s face darkened, cursing the fool silently...
Kaito also raised his head to look, but the speaker had already shut up. Jiang Yi recognized who it was but didn’t mind. Instead, he laughed, “Oh, that description fits perfectly. But if I’m a troublemaker, what does that make all of you?”
Hearing Jiang Yi’s retort, everyone’s faces darkened!
Li Zhitian almost swore, but with Kaito standing nearby, he lacked the courage. Zhu Caijun saw Kaito’s expression and felt uneasy. This newcomer seemed intent on stirring up everyone’s emotions, much to Zhu’s silent resentment.
He said sternly, “Classmate, no matter what, we took you in! Is this how you repay your savior?”
“You? Wasn’t it Kaito who saved me? Has anyone else ever helped me here? Speak up if you have!”
No one answered. Jiang Yi puffed out his chest and scanned the group, then snorted disdainfully, “Besides, I didn’t save myself for free. I’ve shared a whole pack of food with you all!”

Zhu Caijun was furious. Since becoming student council president, this was the first time someone spoke to him like this. Yet Jiang Yi’s words left him speechless...
Li Zhitian struggled to stand, his face fierce. “So what? We don’t keep freeloaders here. Your food lasts you only a day. You’re not welcome here—get out immediately!”
Though speaking to Jiang Yi, his eyes were fixed on Kaito. In his mind, Jiang Yi and Kaito were already a team.
Haunted by that stunning blade strike, Li Zhitian found no courage wherever Kaito was...
“Hmph, the lodging fees here are outrageous. I don’t need you to kick me out. I wouldn’t stay in this dump even if you didn’t.” He winked at Kaito, “Help me get my backpack, will you?”
Kaito originally wanted to stop Jiang Yi’s petty quarrel, but seeing Jiang Yi silently signal him, he complied and fetched Jiang Yi’s bag from inside.
Jiang Yi glanced at his bag and then said to Kaito, “So? Want to come with me? Looks like you’re no longer welcome here.”
Hearing this, Zhu Caijun panicked. He took a big step forward to intervene, but Li Zhitian cut him off, “Right, Kaito, if you insist on taking this guy in, then go with him. You’re too strong and look down on ordinary people like us. You’re no longer welcome here...”
“Li Zhitian...” Zhu Caijun urgently grabbed him, but was shrugged off...
Kaito, who had never intended to agree, was stunned. Looking around at the people he had lived with for over ten days, he saw only distant, hostile, fearful stares. His heart chilled. He forced a bitter smile and lowered his head: “I understand...”
Zhu Caijun was desperate. Kaito couldn’t leave—his strength was tremendous and he had no ambition. With him around, Zhu could lead safely. But Li Zhitian and the others clearly misunderstood his intentions. Hearing Kaito agree to leave, Li Zhitian’s eyes lit up with excitement!
If Kaito stayed, he’d always be second! Without a team, Kaito bringing along a cripple like Jiang Yi would only end with them torn apart by monsters outside!
Jiang Yi grinned; different methods, but the outcome pleased him. However, he couldn’t just take Kaito away so easily. He grabbed Kaito to stop him, “You can’t just leave. If you go, you have to take your share of supplies!”
Zhu Caijun frowned, trying to find a way to keep Kaito, even willing to accept Jiang Yi staying. But hearing Jiang Yi’s words, his selfish instinct immediately opposed, “Impossible! These supplies belong to everyone. He has no share... uh!”
Suddenly realizing what he said, Zhu Caijun almost slapped himself, wondering what nonsense he had just uttered!
Kaito wanted to refuse, but seeing everyone’s expressions that clearly showed no intention to share with him, he felt conflicted. After all, he was the only one who went out daily to find food and brought back the most!
If not for these people, he could have eaten for three or four months without worry. His heart hardened; beyond pain, he no longer felt any attachment to them.
Blocking Jiang Yi’s open mouth, Kaito said calmly, “I don’t want anything else. I just want to take my knives and my luggage.”
Seeing Kaito’s expression, Zhu Caijun knew everything was ruined. Not wanting to worsen relations, he immediately agreed, “Of course, those are yours.”

Li Zhitian opened his mouth, instinctively wanting to object, but Kaito’s cold glare silenced him.
Jiang Yi was somewhat surprised by their expressions. Since Kaito had made his decision, he didn’t want to argue further. The two walked side by side, and the crowd immediately parted to watch them leave.
They walked slowly—both were now invalids! Fortunately, the changing room wasn’t far. Jiang Yi followed inside, immediately assaulted by a stench that darkened his vision!
He hadn’t realized these people lived in the changing hall. The hall was large enough for three hundred people to change, but except for locker space, the rest was laid out as ground bedding!
Only a few makeshift beds made from benches in the changing rooms stood out conspicuously. There were fewer than two people in the hall. When the two entered, everyone mechanically went about their business, paying no attention to them.
Jiang Yi frowned at the trash-strewn floor and stepped back, deciding to wait here. Kaito didn’t care and went to his locker, quickly packing his belongings into a sports duffel bag.
He changed into a black training suit, but unlike before, this set was tied at the waist with a wide, black belt. On the right side of the belt hung two knives!
They were not the typical Chinese long knives. Jiang Yi squinted, studying the renewed Kaito, especially the two knives. Although Kaito’s appearance hadn’t changed much, Jiang Yi instinctively felt that with the knives on him, Kaito looked sharp as a blade!
The two blades resembled Jiang Yi’s Tang Dao but with more pronounced curves—one long, one short, one black, one white. The white one was a long knife, its dark gold guard circular and locked onto the sheath, with green cord woven around the handle.
The black knife was shorter, about a foot long, entirely black with only the guard in bright silver, featuring intricate hollow patterns. The handle and sheath were wooden.
The handle’s center had a metal pin inlaid with half a white gemstone.
Holding the knives in his right hand, Kaito came before Jiang Yi without looking back and simply said, “Let’s go.”
Jiang Yi smiled and followed him out of the changing hall. Outside the door stood Li Zhitian and Zhu Caijun!
The two seemed to have argued, glaring at each other in silence. Only when they saw Kaito did Zhu Caijun wear an apologetic smile, “Kaito, if you want to come back, you’re always welcome here!”
Kaito didn’t respond; in fact, he seemed to ignore them all. He passed by Zhu Caijun without a word. Zhu was stunned, his face flushing as if painted.
Jiang Yi bit his lip. He didn’t dare smile—his body was battered, and he was afraid of the pain...
