Chapter 10: Mei Comes Calling—Wu Huihui, the God of War!
The zombies roared outside for most of the night. During that time, the door to a dormitory on the fifth floor was smashed in by a zombie, followed by harrowing screams. The players on that floor were truly unlucky, as all the zombies swarmed toward them. By the time day broke, only four players remained on the fifth floor. This turn of events felt like a bucket of ice water poured over everyone, causing the atmosphere in the chat room to grow increasingly bleak.
The only exceptions were the people on the first and second floors; as soon as the sun peeked out, they went out to scavenge for supplies. They had plenty of opportunities, unlike the players on the higher floors who could only wait for death.
In a certain equipment room, Wang Yang, testing the lethality of a golf club, shattered a zombie’s skull with a single blow. Suddenly, a white light flashed under the zombie’s armpit, and a slip of paper appeared. Wang Yang reached out and picked it up.
[Intelligence Slip]
[Type: Item]
[Content: During the day, zombies sleep in cool, shaded places to conserve their energy. Once awakened, their mobility is also significantly reduced.]
[Introduction: This item has no level, cannot be dismantled or upgraded; just read it and be done with it.]
Instantly, Wang Yang’s fists tightened, his eyes turning bloodshot. He was wrong—everything was wrong! The way this game was meant to be played was wrong from the very start. The true way to play was to defend the doors at night and scavenge for supplies and kill zombies during the day. If he shared this intelligence, he could definitely save many people! But then, he would lose his edge. If everyone went downstairs, the first-mover advantage of the players on the first and second floors would vanish.
Taking a deep breath, Wang Yang tried killing other zombies and was shocked to discover that they dropped food and raw materials. They might even drop blueprints! Now, he definitely couldn't say anything. Once the news spread, every player would be competing with him for supplies and zombies. Plus, it would easily incite chaos.
"This game definitely has more than one round. Since you're all going to die anyway, you might as well help fatten me up!" As long as he controlled the pace and didn't make too much of a scene, these zombies wouldn't even notice if their companions died right next to them. Those dormant zombies were no different from free loot.
...
On the fourth floor, Wang Ao grabbed the edge of the parapet, kicked off the wall, and used the momentum to swing back and jump to the third floor. He repeated the action, making his way all the way to the first floor.
"Success!" Wang Ao nearly cheered aloud. He pulled out a small knife, his eyes gleaming with ferocity as he sprinted toward the cafeteria.
...
"Tsk tsk, I knew a place like this would have good stuff!" In the principal’s office, Zhou Tao held a vial that clearly looked extraordinary. He admired it for a moment, but upon hearing footsteps outside, he quickly hid it in his backpack.
The person who entered was a scrawny boy. Upon opening the door and seeing Zhou Tao, he paused, then smiled with a shifty look in his eyes. "Zhou Tao, did you know? Li Xing found a skill book."
"A skill book?" Zhou Tao’s eyes lit up.
"Yeah, since you're here, let's go ask him if he's selling."
"Alright."
"By the way, did you find anything good here?"
"Don't even ask, it's bad luck!"
...
Everyone had their own plans. Everyone was taking action. Everyone, that is, except Xu Lang. Today was the fourth day since the game began, and while everyone else had undergone drastic internal changes, Xu Lang was still just lying around.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
"Xu Lang, open the door! I know you're in there!"
All the survivors on the tenth floor had gathered outside Xu Lang’s door, men and women alike. Xu Lang frowned, unable to sleep due to the racket.
"Xu Lang, should we go out and see?" Cao Yaxuan whispered.
"Ignore them," Xu Lang shook his head. If they really caused a big enough scene, the zombies would teach them a lesson.
...
Outside Dormitory 200, the men looked deathly dull, but one girl was particularly anxious. That was Wu Huihui. She was the main force behind the door-knocking. The men present had all backed away, fearing they might be accidentally injured. Wu Huihui was just too robust—an upgraded version of Senior Sister Meiyu. Could you handle that? Her underwear was large enough to be fashioned into a tank top for Xu Lang. Even her roommate, Wang Tingting, kept a distance from her.
"Lang, oh Lang, open the door! It’s me, Wu Huihui!" Wu Huihui pounded on the door, wailing loudly.
One boy couldn't take it anymore and whispered a warning, "Keep it down, I hear zombies."
"I don't care, I don't care! Brother Lang said he wanted Xiao Mei, but I can do anything! And he has supplies, why won't he give them to us?" After wailing for a bit, Wu Huihui began to grow angry.
A boy stepped forward, his face dark. "Xu Lang, if you don't open the door, we'll force it open. We're all classmates; it's unreasonable for you to stand by and watch us die, isn't it?"
"Exactly! He even has supplies to keep a woman!"
"Cao Yaxuan is in his dorm now; she must have been ruined by him!"
"I never knew Xu Lang was this kind of person!"
The crowd outside murmured, their voices growing louder. Xu Lang ignored them completely. When Zhou Tao had been stalking him earlier, not a single person had tipped him off—it was chilling.
Suddenly, a zombie charged out of the hallway, sending everyone fleeing in a panic. Wu Huihui didn't run. Heartbroken by Xu Lang, she stared at the zombie with eyes full of rage while sobbing.
"Screw you!" With bloodshot eyes, she waited until the zombie was right in front of her and kicked it. The kick landed on the zombie’s chest, landing with such force it seemed like a critical hit, causing the chest to cave in immediately. The zombie’s head slumped to the side, and it died on the spot.
A white light flashed, and a can of yellow peaches dropped beside the zombie. Wu Huihui froze, and the students who had only managed to run a short distance froze as well. Everyone’s gaze was fixed on the can of yellow peaches, but no one dared to step up and grab it. With Wu Huihui’s eyes looking that red, how was she any different from a mad bull?
"Huihui... Sister Wu, what is your constitution attribute?" one boy asked, gulping hard.
"Eight," Wu Huihui said, swinging her arm, which was thicker than a human leg, as she picked up the yellow peaches.
Suddenly, everyone couldn't hold it together anymore. The forward from the basketball team only had a constitution of seven! It turned out she was the biggest powerhouse on the tenth floor! They didn't need to rely on Xu Lang; the tenth floor had its own god of war!
...
Wu Huihui and her group didn't keep it a secret; they shared the news that killing zombies dropped items. A new storm broke out in the chat room. Everyone was restless, eager to kill zombies. But the problem was, where would they get weapons? Not everyone was as fierce as Wu Huihui. After so many days of the apocalypse, everyone’s mental state was poor, and their physical strength had declined sharply; without weapons, it was impossible to go head-to-head with zombies.
