Chapter 61: The Monster on the Ninth Floor, Believe in Xu Lang
Inside Dormitory 186, Wu Huihui and Wang Tingting listened to the scratching and thumping of zombies against the door outside, their expressions grim.
Nie Xiaozhu stood behind the wooden door, sweat beading on her forehead. Seeing the durability meter drop, she immediately applied steel plates to repair it.
Earlier, Wu Huihui had promised to help upgrade Nie Xiaozhu's room, but considering the material costs, she simply promoted her directly to a tenant of 186.
Coincidentally, a veteran female player was inquiring with Wu Huihui about any available vacancies on the tenth floor, so that spot was given away instead.
Female players indeed loved the atmosphere of sticking together.
Unlike Xu Ruyan, that veteran female player was a freeloader whose dormitory setup was utterly pathetic; otherwise, she wouldn't have bothered changing floors.
"Sister Huihui, if we rely entirely on the door to hold out for ten minutes, it's probably going to be impossible," Nie Xiaozhu said urgently.
Other floor leaders had grown leisurely and unconcerned upon noticing the attack rates of the zombies.
However, Wu Huihui and her group were different.
The steel and iron resources of the tenth floor had been distributed among all the residents and were not monopolized by Wu Huihui's clique.
This approach enhanced the survival capabilities of all residents, but it consequently reduced the survival capabilities of Wu Huihui and her inner circle!
"If even we can't hold out, then the other sisters in the dormitories..." Wang Tingting worriedly gazed ahead.
"Don't worry!" Wu Huihui snapped.
Wang Tingting and Nie Xiaozhu instantly looked at her with confusion.
"What is it, Sister Hui?" Nie Xiaozhu asked timidly.
When Wu Huihui lost her temper, she could actually be quite intimidating.
Wu Huihui breathed heavily through her nostrils and said, "Trust Xu Lang, he'll definitely lure the monsters away!"
The eyes of both Nie Xiaozhu and Wang Tingting lit up at once.

The players on the tenth floor were complaining bitterly.
Wu Huihui and the others' worries were entirely justified.
To slow down the rate at which the zombies depleted door durability, some people had no choice but to open their doors and engage the zombies in close combat for a brief period before retreating back into their dormitories.
Yet doing so carried extreme risks, and anyone scratched had to treat the wound with glutinous rice.
In truth, the overall defensive strength of the tenth floor players was relatively high, since Wu Huihui didn't ruthlessly exploit resources like other floor leaders.
While this strategy seemed foolish, it was actually exceptionally sound and benefited everyone, though very few were capable of executing it.
However, the problem now was that the monsters on the tenth floor were zombies!
The door-smashing ability of the zombies was terrifying as hell!
Consequently, the tenth floor had instantly become the most perilous floor of all.
In Dormitory 180, Xu Ruyan manually operated her turrets, picking off zombies with precision shots.
Hers was a Level 3 dormitory equipped with four turrets, all of which were Level 2, packing tremendous firepower.
However, she was the sole occupant of her dorm; whenever the door's durability dropped, she had to repair it herself, which was rather troublesome.
Xu Ruyan lacked a surveillance monitor, but she seemed able to sense the situation outside. After blasting a zombie's head off with a water cannon, she hurried behind the vermilion dormitory door to repair its durability.
Just as she was about to start repairing, her hand holding the materials paused, and she quickly pressed her eyes against the peephole.
She drew in a sharp breath.
Racing down the hallway were wild leopards, wolves, and monkeys with glowing green eyes.
These were monsters that had come up from the ninth floor!
The moment the thought crossed her mind, her expression tightened.
Her vermilion heavy door possessed strong suppression against ghosts and specters, but it was truly ill-equipped to deal with monsters relying on physical attacks.
"Am I going to perish right here?"
An ominous premonition rose in her heart.
Yet, she didn't show excessive fear. Capitalizing on the moment her water cannon inflicted damage on the zombies, she abruptly flung the door open, raised her hand to unleash a billow of green poisonous gas, and slammed the door shut again.
The green poisonous gas lingered stubbornly in front of the doorway, inflicting continuous damage on those monsters.

On the eighth floor, Dormitory 159.
"What the hell!" Zheng Kai, the eighth-floor leader, cursed loudly as he spotted the running beasts through the peephole.
He immediately shared the monsters' stats in the chat room, threw open his door, kicked away a paper doll blocking the entrance, and hurled two Molotov cocktails outside.
Blazing flames instantly ignited along the corridor!
The fierce fire would scorch the door's durability, but it would simultaneously damage the monsters.
This first wave of monsters had to be battered into submission by him; otherwise, if they rushed off at full health to attack other dormitories, it would accelerate the attrition of the eighth-floor players.
The dormitory closest to the stairwell was indeed a death trap, but it was also a firing position. As the monsters charged past the four turrets, they would inevitably take varying degrees of damage!
Other floors were experiencing the exact same ordeal, though the pressure wasn't quite as immense as on the tenth and eighth floors.

On the other side, in Dormitory 200.
"All cleared out!" Xu Lang exhaled, gazing at the empty space outside his doorway.
Through the surveillance screen, zombies could still be seen swarming outside Dormitory 199.
Xu Lang opened his door.
Instantly, the zombies still assaulting Dormitory 199 whipped their heads around.
Aside from them, numerous other zombies without active targets came bounding over in this direction.
Opening the door and shutting it again were executed in one fluid motion.
Now, all they had to do was wait for the zombies to deliver free points to their doorstep.
"Big Brother Lang, this is bad! The monsters from the ninth floor have run up here!" Tong Qi cried out.
During battles, Tong Qi usually monitored the chat room while Cao Xuanxuan watched the surveillance screens, with Wang Yazhi acting as support.
Hearing this, Xu Lang immediately opened the chat room and found the monster information posted by Wu Huihui and the others.
They were wolves, leopards, and monkeys—three types of beasts. Fortunately, they were all Tier-2 creatures and not exceptionally strong, their threat level at least far inferior to that of zombies.
"It's fine, Tongtong. Keep a close eye on the roster in the chat room and see if there are any casualties on the tenth floor," Xu Lang said calmly.
With everyone's doorways swarmed by monsters anyway, the speed at which durability dropped would only be so fast.
Right now, the most crucial factor was the ability to clear out monsters.
Anyone lacking efficient crowd-clearing capabilities was bound to die sooner or later.
Tong Qi nodded, having kept her attention on this all along. She reported, "Two minutes into the game, four dormitories have been breached. The player in Dormitory 18 abandoned her dorm and became a wanderer, and some of the monsters gave chase..."
Wanderers referred to those who had lost their dormitories.
Thirteen casualties in two minutes didn't sound severe on the surface, but Xu Lang's expression remained grim.
With monsters crowding every single person's doorway, the moment casualties began to mount, it would easily trigger a domino effect!
However, even with this outcome anticipated, Xu Lang could do nothing to help the others.
Such was the nature of the Dormitory Survival Game; guarding one's own tiny patch of territory was already a remarkable feat.
