In the bathroom, cool mineral water flowed over Lin Feng’s body, gradually washing away the dark grime. Zhang Xueqi’s gaze involuntarily fell upon him, and she was instantly stunned. Just a few hours earlier, she had been forced to see that bare body, and now it had undergone a transformation beyond recognition.
Lin Feng’s once slightly rounded belly was now carved with eight clear abdominal muscles, the lines sharp and smooth, brimming with strength. The muscles on both sides of his abdomen were sharply defined, as if meticulously sculpted. This physique was even more perfect than that of a fitness coach.
Zhang Xueqi was genuinely surprised. Though she had no idea what had happened during this period, she was certain that only supernatural abilities could bring about such a drastic change in a person’s body. The stronger and more powerful Lin Feng became, the safer she would be. Understanding this, her resistance to living together diminished.
Lin Feng not only took care of food and drink but also provided security. Besides, he was handsome and well-built—where else could she find such a man in this apocalyptic world?
Yet, a sense of unease lingered in Zhang Xueqi’s heart. Could she, a weak woman, really handle such a formidable man? People online said there were no overworked fields, only tired oxen. Now she thought that was nonsense—those netizens had never seen such a fierce ox!
Two hours later, Lin Feng completely released the pent-up power within him. He carried the sleeping Zhang Xueqi into the bedroom. According to his original plan, he did not intend to share a room with her, fearing she might attack him while he slept. But after gaining the “Dominion” ability, his worries vanished. His body had undergone a qualitative leap, so much so that it could be described as steel-reinforced bones; ordinary blades could not harm him.
As Lin Feng’s breathing gradually steadied, Zhang Xueqi slowly opened her eyes. She habitually woke at this hour from hunger, usually accompanied by stomach cramps. But today, not only was there no pain, the bed felt exceptionally warm. Turning her head, she saw Lin Feng sleeping beside her; his handsome profile made her feel somewhat dazed.
Zhang Xueqi did harbor resentment toward Lin Feng, but not much. She was far from foolish enough to want to kill him. This man was her only hope of survival until the official rescue arrived. Moreover, with Lin Feng’s supernatural ability, he was no easy target. If she were to be awakened during an operation, only she would die.
She stared blankly at the ceiling, her mind in chaos. Her purity, preserved for over twenty years, had been taken by a food delivery man. Thinking of Lin Feng’s actions made her clench her teeth in anger.

He was nothing but a villain, a demon—so rough and utterly lacking in tenderness. Her backside still throbbed faintly. Yet Zhang Xueqi knew well that in this collapsing world, the weak could not survive. Lin Feng’s strength brought her a sense of security.
Quietly, she took out her phone and switched it to silent mode. Scrolling through news and videos, she hoped to see good news on the screen. Unfortunately, the authorities still had not released any announcements about rescue efforts. They only urged people to maintain order, unite, and uphold basic moral standards.
Zhang Xueqi sighed; people were starving to death, and morals couldn’t fill an empty stomach. She never wanted to experience stomach cramps from hunger again and looked forward to having warm food tomorrow. Today, she had only eaten a flattened roast chicken at noon, followed by several hours of intense activity. By evening, she was hungry, but at least without stomach pain.
The next morning, Lin Feng awoke to find someone in his arms. Zhang Xueqi was curled up like a docile cat, asleep in his embrace, her hands tightly clasped around his strong waist. A faint scent of rose lingered on her. Her breathing was even and soft, clearly peaceful.
Zhang Xueqi had not made a move last night, which pleased Lin Feng. After gaining the “Dominion” ability, he was unusually energetic. After Zhang Xueqi fell asleep again, he scrolled on his phone for several more hours, only sleeping at 2 a.m., yet he woke refreshed at 6 a.m.
This ability truly seemed custom-made for students and workers. Thankfully, the wicked capitalism hadn’t invented such technology; otherwise, the brutal 996 work culture would be a blessing.
Lin Feng didn’t wake Zhang Xueqi, knowing she was exhausted. He needed her to stay healthy as both a cleaner and a fire-fighting tool—he couldn’t afford to have her break down.
After getting up and freshening up, he started his daily exercise. Staying at home all day made his body feel rusty. However, push-ups and squats, once challenging, became effortless after mastering the “Dominion” ability.
Could exercise like this really have any effect?
After his workout, Lin Feng checked his phone for new messages. There were private messages, but only from the landlord:
Unit A #1902 Wang Tao: “Hey Xiao Lin, rent’s due in a couple of days. I only accept food for renewal; otherwise, you’ll have to hit the streets.”
Eat Your Fill: “If you’ve got the guts, come upstairs and kick me out.”
Lin Feng was currently living in Zhang Xueqi’s place and wasn’t afraid. Besides, Wang Tao lived on the 19th floor—he might not even make it to the elevator before being swallowed by a mutated husky lurking in the white fog.
That bastard loved to raise the rent for no reason. Last year, Lin Feng caught him installing pinhole cameras in his female roommate’s bedroom. Wang Tao denied everything, claiming he was just fixing the air conditioner, but eventually had to waive three months’ rent to settle the matter.
Lin Feng knew Wang Tao was probably just eyeing the food Lin Feng flaunted in the Shengshi Jiangnan community group, hoping for a meal.
“Still, his fiancée is quite pretty. I wonder if she meets the system’s standards?”
Anyway, first, he would post today’s advertisements.
Lin Feng took eight roast chickens, two packs of instant noodles from his super warehouse, along with frozen steaks and pork left by his former roommates. Given the current situation, they would never return; the food would spoil otherwise, so he reluctantly decided to consume it himself.
He also brought out chocolates, chips, shrimp-flavored snacks, and cola. When Zhang Xueqi woke and saw the table full of food, her eyes widened. It had been a long time since her dining table held so much to eat.
Before the white fog disaster, she scorned such junk food to maintain her figure. But now, even fried and puffed snacks like chips seemed like a well-balanced, delicious meal.
Having eaten a roast chicken yesterday, and starving last night, she swallowed hard, thinking of the toil awaiting her today and the full table before her.
A few minutes later, Lin Feng cooked the steaks and pork into dishes and set them on the table.
“Cooking duties will be yours from now on.”
“Okay.”
Zhang Xueqi nodded obediently; cooking was her usual interest, and in this food-scarce apocalypse, it was the happiest job she could ask for.
“Let’s eat.”
With Lin Feng’s permission, Zhang Xueqi abandoned all pretense and devoured the food like a dog starved for days. Each time a roast chicken disappeared, Lin Feng replaced it with a fresh one from the super warehouse.
He took out his phone, snapped a few photos, and posted them in the Shengshi Jiangnan community group.
