41. Elder Sister (Seeking monthly votes~)
Xiang Yudi immediately asked, "Can you help me get out of my current situation?"
Marn did not commit himself completely. "The Observers is one of our departments. However, whatever you want, you must first increase your employee rank. You currently have only the most basic authorization. For instance, once you reach Rank 2, you will be able to request teleportation to the vicinity of other employees. There are other privileges at higher ranks as well. Perhaps after working here for a while, you will possess the formidable power to resolve these problems yourselves."
Xiang Yudi’s eyes lit up. "Then how do we increase our employee rank?"
Marn replied with a composed expression, "Submit various pieces of valuable information; this is your primary duty. Beyond that... we are also collecting all kinds of anomalous entities. Of course, I do not expect you to subdue power-users stronger than yourselves, but perhaps you can find certain anomalous items. If you submit something of value... you will receive an opportunity to apply for the use of power corresponding to that rank."
Elie’s eyes showed surprise. "You mean to say that if we submit a Rank IV anomalous item, we can obtain Rank IV power for a certain period? How long would that last?"
Marn answered, "Specific details are only available once you become Rank 2 members. However, the time limit is not a question of feasibility, but rather depends on what you intend to do and how high your clearance is. If your application report is well-written, a year or even a half-year is not out of the question."
Naturally, the right of interpretation remained with him.
Upon hearing Marn’s words, both Elie and Xiang Yudi had thoughts of precious treasures they could access flash through their minds. However, neither was eager to bring it up—they were not foolish enough to fully trust a powerful stranger.
"Perhaps you can work for a while first," Marn suggested. "I will not make any excessive demands of you; I only require information that is, for you, common knowledge."
"Understood," they replied in unison.
Both Elie and Xiang Yudi were facing difficult predicaments they longed to overcome, and before meeting Marn, they had no way to deal with them. Since that was the case... why not give it a try?
In Elie’s eyes, a powerhouse like this, who could summon her out of Atlantis, might be hiding schemes beyond her imagination, but whether she agreed or not would likely have no impact on his plans.
Xiang Yudi was not as trusting of Marn. Coming from a devil-worshiping cult, he knew that the powerful could have needs that mortals could never anticipate, but what could be worse than agreeing to his invitation? The worst-case scenario would simply be making a deal with a different kind of devil.
"Then..." Marn tapped the table and offered a gentle smile. "From now on, we shall work together. You may address me as Director."
They simultaneously saw a floating screen appear.
【Are you willing to become a member of the Observers?】
As their thoughts shifted, information visible only to him appeared before Marn’s eyes.

The two sat upright, looking at him. He nodded slightly.
"Our department has just been founded. As I said, our purpose is to maintain the world's survival; therefore, monitoring various dangerous entities is essential. However, as a newly established organization, we do not have many resources, nor do we have resources from other departments.
"But our work is simple: collect information. You only need to be responsible for collecting the various information you have access to, organizing it, and submitting it. Obviously, the content you are responsible for is related to yourselves: Atlantis, devils, demons, and angels."
Elie nodded. "I can look for information in the library, but do you have any specific requirements or priorities?"
Marn said, "That is your job—to identify what is important."
Xiang Yudi, however, looked troubled. "Actually, I don’t know much about demons and devils, though I am quite knowledgeable about the situation regarding angels. If you wish, I can search for information on devils after I return, but our cult does not have much contact with demons."
Marn said gently, "It is fine. If you are more knowledgeable about angels, just be responsible for that information for now."
Elie suddenly spoke up, "Actually, we have also conducted some research on the founding of the Holy Church. Before leaving the land, that preacher once had contact with our leaders."
Xiang Yudi looked at her in astonishment, not expecting Elie to say such a thing. "You have met that one destined to return?"
Elie nodded. "If you need it, Director, I can also look for information regarding this."
He had not expected things to go so smoothly, but even with this revelation, Marn did not rush to inquire further—that would not fit his persona.
Marn nodded and said calmly, "Very well. In that case, I would like you to organize the information you already know this week. Submit the news you have gathered seven days from now, at night. Do you have any issues with the timing?"
They shook their heads.
"Then until next time," Marn said.
He returned to reality.
*Ring-ring...*
Marn took out his phone and stared at the words on the screen.
*Sister.*
He pressed the answer button.
"Hello?" A gentle female voice came through the phone. "Marn?"
"Yes," he replied, feeling somewhat at a loss.
Chen Yun’s tone carried slight nervousness and excitement as she said, trembling slightly, "I heard from the hospital that you have been discharged. The attending physician said your condition has stabilized and you can interact with society normally. Is this true?"
"Yes," Marn adjusted himself and replied in a gentle tone, "My condition has improved quite a bit."
"That’s wonderful!" Chen Yun could no longer hide her surprise. "I will talk to the Bishop here right now and try to come back in a few days to take care of you. By the way, is your money enough? I received an eight-thousand advance for this business trip, and I’ve just transferred it all to your card. I’m staying at the church lately, so I don’t spend anything. But if you are still short on money, I can go ask Bishop Ding if we can borrow some..."
"No, no need," Marn said quickly. "I made a wealthy friend at the hospital, and she lent me quite a bit of money."
Suddenly, silence descended.
After ten seconds of quiet, the voice on the other end trembled slightly.
"Marn, your tone sounds a bit off. Did you run into some trouble? Did the doctor do something to you, or is there someone else around you? If there is anything inconvenient for you to say directly on the phone, you can give me a hint..."
She had already faintly sensed something.
"It’s nothing," Marn said, as if possessed. "Trust me, sister."
The person on the other end paused.
"Okay," Chen Yun’s voice became gentle once more. "But remember, no matter what difficulties you encounter, you can tell me. You must remember... I will always be your sister."
