"Of course it's true!"

Lu Meng looked at him with an entirely serious face.

Ace frowned slightly. "How is that possible?"

Even a top-tier S-class Guide could not perform spiritual cleansing without first establishing a spiritual link!

Could she possibly be of an even higher rank than an S-class?

Yet, how could that be?

Lu Meng pudgily curled her lips. "What's impossible about it? My spiritual power is special. Even Dean Elt said so, why are you making such a fuss?"

For a moment, Ace was completely bewildered.

Could it really be true?

Seeing that he seemed to believe her, Lu Meng let out a heavy sigh of relief inwardly.

She certainly couldn't reveal her true supernatural ability, but she could package it as a special kind of spiritual power and borrow Dean Elt's name to boot. That made her story immensely credible!

She was truly a genius!

No!

Forget being a genius—as long as she was clever, that was enough.

"Alright, stop overthinking it. I'll give you a cleansing session, and won't you know for yourself then?"

Before Ace could even react, she pulled him up.

Lu Meng dragged him toward the sofa, then pressed him down onto it. "Sit!"

Although Ace still held a shred of doubt, his body obeyed her command before his brain could catch up, and he sat down.

"Lie down."

Ace lay down accordingly. Lu Meng sat beside him and gently placed her hand on his head. "Close your eyes."

Obediently, Ace closed his eyes.

Lu Meng released her ability. The three vines on her wrist looked much more vibrant than they had days before. Slipping through Lu Meng's palm, they entered Ace's spiritual world.

Ace merely felt something invade his mind before he drifted off into sleep.

Lu Meng's consciousness followed the vines into Ace's spiritual world, revealing a forest of towering trees beneath a sky as gloomy as an impending storm.

All sorts of small animals were scurrying to hide in corners where they felt safe. For a moment, aside from the howling wind, not a sound could be heard across the entire forest.

The vines wove through the trees and bushes, eventually arriving beneath a massive boulder. Tucked away in a crevice of the rock, a sleek, pitch-black snake was coiled up tight.

The vines hesitated, looking at one another; they vividly remembered that they were terrified of snakes.

Seeing this, Lu Meng was equally startled. How could it be a snake?

No way. Could his spiritual form actually be a snake?

How terrifying!

Lu Meng hesitated, and the vines, sensing her fear, stepped backward.

No!

Even so, she couldn't just give up!

Complying with her thoughts, the vines moved forward and wrapped around the little snake. Catching the familiar scent, the little snake showed no resistance to the approaching vines, and instead snuggled even closer.

Lu Meng endured the slippery texture transmitted back through the vines as they drew near the small snake.

The vines intended to guide the little snake away from this place; a tempest was about to strike, and she needed to lead the little snake to a safe haven.

Yet, the moment they guided the little snake away from the rock, the surrounding environment suddenly shifted.

A sky-high flood came sweeping through with terrifying speed, a massive wave crashing the vines and the little snake alike into the water.

In the muddy, silt-laden water, nothing could be seen. The vines tightly shielded the small snake, attempting to anchor themselves to nearby trees, only to find not a single intact tree remaining here.

They could only drift along with the floodwaters, as if tossed into a tumbling washing machine.

The swaying vines grew dizzy, yet they still refused to let go of the small snake.

Using all their strength, they formed a protective barrier around the little snake, while the snake slept soundly within.

After an unknown passage of time, they finally came to a halt.

As the flood receded, the entire forest lay in utter ruin. Trees were completely destroyed, the ground was littered with the carcasses of dead animals, and the sky abruptly darkened like the end of the world.

Wobblily, the vines placed the small snake onto a leaf, then crawled across the muddy earth as a faint green fluorescence vanished in a flash.
