Chapter 10: Helping Mom Fight the Enemy

"Damn, what should I do? Even with the lionesses joining the fray, winning isn't going to be easy!" Chu Ye felt his tension rising once again.

The situation on the battlefield was not unfolding as he had imagined. Initially, Chu Ye had hoped that if the two lionesses stepped in, they could quickly defeat the two invading male lions. However, things were not going according to his plan. With a three-on-two situation, the outlook on the battlefield was far from optimistic.

"No, it seems like the bravest little lion—me—has to step up again. Otherwise, I don't know if my parents can defeat this pair of male lion brothers." Chu Ye felt he could no longer stand by and watch; he had to enter the fray himself. Having experienced the battlefield once before, he didn't feel quite as afraid. He had already challenged a large male lion once; doing it again didn't matter.

The other cubs were all hiding in the bushes, not daring to come out. They watched Chu Ye standing outside, not quite understanding what he intended to do. Little Black, who had a good relationship with Chu Ye, was concerned for him. Seeing Chu Ye still standing out in the open, it ran out of the bushes and roared a few times, clearly wanting Chu Ye to hide back in the brush.

But Chu Ye ignored Little Black. Instead of retreating into the bushes, he ran directly toward the battlefield. Little Black was completely bewildered by Chu Ye’s actions; it stared blankly at him and stopped roaring.

Chu Ye rushed straight into the fray. Facing the two strong, nomadic male lions, he once again displayed a fearless spirit. This time, he didn't go to help his father, the pride leader; he decided to help his mother. Chu Ye knew that the male lion currently being engaged by the two lionesses must be the elder brother, the backbone of the pair. If he could help his mother drive the elder brother away, would the younger brother really continue the fight?

With that in mind, Chu Ye ran straight to the side of the two lionesses, determined to help them defeat the elder male.

When Chu Ye reached Lisa, she saw him coming to stir up trouble again and began to roar at him. Clearly, Lisa felt that Chu Ye’s arrival was nothing but a nuisance. She believed that she and her sister could handle the elder male on their own and that Chu Ye’s help was unnecessary.

"Roar! Roar!" Lisa began to growl at him. Chu Ye understood exactly what she meant, but he wouldn't turn back. He was going to help his mother defeat this elder lion. He had already devised a strategy, one he believed would quickly defeat the elder male, end the battle, and lead them to ultimate victory. Without this plan, he didn't know how long the fight would drag on, and there was a risk that Gick and the two lionesses might lose.

Seeing that Chu Ye wouldn't listen, Lisa had no choice. She was locked in combat with the elder male and couldn't spare the effort to chase Chu Ye away.

Chu Ye waited for an opening, just as he had before, and targeted the male lion's hindquarters. Although the elder male saw Chu Ye, he dismissed him entirely. After all, a cub only two or three months old was no more than a kitten to an adult male lion. The elder male didn't even know why Chu Ye had approached him; he wondered if the cub had been scared stupid and was running over to throw its life away. Engaged with the two lionesses, the male had no intention of dealing with Chu Ye. He never imagined that the cub would actually attack him.

Chu Ye seized the moment and bit down hard on the male's hindquarters. Caught completely off guard, the elder male felt a sharp, stabbing pain. He wondered if the other lioness had bitten him, but when he turned back, he saw only the small cub standing behind him.

"Roar!" The elder male was thoroughly enraged by Chu Ye. He broke off from the two lionesses and lunged directly at the cub. Chu Ye, of course, turned and fled immediately. Although the elder male was furious, the two lionesses were still pressing him, preventing him from chasing Chu Ye. He had no choice but to turn back and continue fighting them.

The elder male thought that once the brat ran off, it wouldn't return, so he decided to let it go. However, to his surprise, while he was fighting the lionesses, he suddenly felt another sharp pain in his hindquarters. He turned around, and there was that same little cub again.

This time, the elder male was truly incensed. He immediately moved to bite Chu Ye, but the cub escaped once more. The elder male felt helpless; the two lionesses were hounding him, and he couldn't break free. He couldn't chase Chu Ye, so he had to continue battling the lionesses.

Yet, Chu Ye was like a persistent fly, constantly harassing the elder male and preventing him from focusing entirely on the two lionesses. Seeing this, Lisa seemed pleased. She realized that Chu Ye was trying to repeat his previous tactic to help them win.

What Lisa didn't expect, however, was that this time, Chu Ye did not run toward a large tree. When the elder male chased him, Chu Ye sprinted toward the nearby bushes. This worried Lisa deeply; after all, a cub could never outrun an adult lion. A cub’s only hope for safety was to climb a tree.

The elder male was ecstatic. He had been bitten several times, and his fury was boiling over. He decided he would finish off this cub once and for all. Given his size, killing a cub would be effortless. He charged after Chu Ye, thinking the cub was foolish for running toward the brush instead of a tree, where the lion’s massive frame would be unable to follow.

"Stupid brat, you're asking for death," the elder male roared, chasing Chu Ye with excitement, certain he would kill him this time.

Chu Ye kept running toward the thicket, while Lisa and Aisha followed close behind the elder male, attempting to stop him from hunting down the cub.
