Chapter 29: In Big Trouble

Duan Yilin continued to stare at the two of them until they felt uneasy, only then did she mercifully let go. "Fine, in that case, I won't hold her previous behavior against her, but I have one demand: she must bring her fiancée to apologize to me!"

Feng Jingxuan felt his heart nearly leap out of his throat. What kind of day was this!

Zang Zexin gritted his teeth and agreed, "Fine!"

Duan Yilin finally spoke again, "Good. Chengjun, escort these two out."

"Understood." Tang Chengjun had finally claimed the last two heads of the day.

"Lilin, do you need me to look into their true identities?" Jiang Zhiyi asked Duan Yilin.

Observing the victory notification on the system, Duan Yilin was in a wonderful mood and no longer paid any attention to the male.

"No need, I was just scaring them." The three exited the game, their positions automatically resetting to the house in the holographic world specifically arranged for Duan Yilin. "They are just males; they aren't worth my concern."

Duan Yilin possessed a superb mindset; she held no grudges, because she settled them on the spot. Her words alone were enough to give that male a headache for several days. This was Duan Yilin’s small act of revenge.

Seeing that the tactless male hadn't ruined Lilin's mood, Tang Chengjun and Jiang Zhiyi both breathed a sigh of relief. The two male beasts exchanged a look and made a silent, mutual decision.

After exiting the game, Xiao Ningxue did not wait for the two men. She teleported directly to a remote location. She dared not remain in the game lobby. If she were caught, she would be finished. Damn it! She had only come out to play a game; how did she end up in such a situation?

Because of the urgency, she hadn't paid attention to where she was going. Once her vision cleared, Xiao Ningxue realized she was in front of a library. It was the Federation’s largest holographic library.

Xiao Ningxue considered going inside, but then thought better of it. They had come out after dinner and spent an hour playing; it was about time to log out. As for this library... Xiao Ningxue found the button on the light screen and bookmarked the location, planning to return another time.

Before she could go back to find the others, she received messages from Zang Zexin and Feng Jingxuan asking where she was. Xiao Ningxue sent them her location directly. Within three seconds, the two appeared before her, both looking grim.

Xiao Ningxue was confused and about to speak, but Zang Zexin interrupted, "Let's head back first. I have something to tell you."

Feng Jingxuan, being extroverted, wore his emotions more openly than Zang Zexin. "Something terrible has happened!" Feng Jingxuan’s tone carried a hint of fear.

"What's wrong?" Xiao Ningxue asked, puzzled. Shouldn't they have received word by now? Given the speed, they shouldn't have had time to discuss it yet.

Zang Zexin pursed his lips and said, "The female, Duan, wants you to bring your fiancée to apologize."

Xiao Ningxue wore a look of utter confusion. "Where would I even get a fiancée?"

Zang Zexin said guiltily, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault. When the female asked why you didn't seek her out, I said it was because you had a fiancée..."

Xiao Ningxue froze. "Ah?" That excuse... it wasn't impossible, but it didn't buy enough time.

"Does she know who I am? Did she ask for my name?" Xiao Ningxue asked, clinging to a sliver of hope.

Feng Jingxuan gave a bitter laugh. "This isn't about whether she knows or not. It’s that a female’s dignity cannot be challenged. Even if she doesn't mind, her males certainly will. If you don't apologize, her males will inevitably come looking for you."

Xiao Ningxue felt her future looked bleak. "If all else fails, I'll just go to the garbage planets." If she couldn't afford to offend them, couldn't she at least hide?

"Don't forget your abilities; that's impossible," Zang Zexin said, cruelly shattering her fantasy.

Xiao Ningxue sighed. "Well, the female didn't set a time limit, so we'll just stall as long as we can. It's getting late, let's log off and rest." Whatever issues there were could be dealt with tomorrow.

Feng Jingxuan was anxious. "How can you be so unconcerned? The consequences of offending a female are severe!"

Xiao Ningxue replied helplessly, "I don't know the rules here, but no matter how big a problem is, there's always a way to solve it. At worst, I'll become a space pirate. I don't have any assets anyway, so let it be what it will."

At least there were no zombies—oh wait, there were no zombies, but there were the Zerg. Still, that was much better than zombies. She was quite open-minded about it. She didn't think the female looked like the type to be petty, which was why she hadn't taken it to heart. As for the males holding a grudge... that was a problem for later.

With that thought, she logged off before the two could continue their persuasion.

"Hey!" Feng Jingxuan stomped his feet in frustration. With her gone, he could only look at Zang Zexin.

Zang Zexin was equally helpless. "Let's log off as well. Remember, there is monitoring, so don't discuss it." He logged off shortly after.

Feng Jingxuan muttered to himself while moving his hands, "What is this mess!" Heaven knows how thrilling tonight had been. He figured he had completely lost his chance now—boo hoo!

Upon logging out, Feng Jingxuan saw the other two waiting for him outside the holographic pods. Thankfully, his reason held, and he resisted the urge to discuss the matter. There were too many eyes and ears here; if word got out and reached the ears of Duan Yilin’s males, the situation would be even worse.

The three returned to their dormitory cautiously. Xiao Ningxue yawned. "We'll talk about it tomorrow. Goodnight, both of you."

Feng Jingxuan’s eyes widened. "She really isn't worried at all!" He was burning with anxiety, yet she showed absolutely nothing on her face. Was this the situation where the emperor isn't anxious, but the eunuchs are? Though he didn't know what a eunuch was.

Zang Zexin felt guilty and didn't stop Xiao Ningxue, only saying, "I will find a way to resolve this." He took the blame for the incident where Duan Yilin demanded she bring her fiancée. After all, he was the one who admitted she had one.

Xiao Ningxue knew he hadn't had much room to think at the time and comforted him, "Don't worry, I truly haven't taken it to heart. When soldiers come, we block; when water comes, we earth-cover. Just go get a good night's sleep; perhaps there will be a solution when you wake up."

Zang Zexin took a deep breath and steadied his emotions. "Alright."

Xiao Ningxue looked at the anxious Feng Jingxuan. "Don't get too worked up. If you're worried about no female wanting you, I can help you find a way to ensure this incident doesn't drag you down." Since this started because of her, she wouldn't let her friends bear the consequences.

Feng Jingxuan’s eyes widened. "Do you think I'm the type of person to abandon friends for a woman?" He had only thought about it in his heart, but if given the chance again, he would make the same choice.

Xiao Ningxue smiled knowingly. "I understand. So don't worry, get some sleep."

Feng Jingxuan looked at her calm demeanor and rubbed his forehead. "Fine, fine! Goodnight."

The three returned to their respective rooms. They slept soundly through the night.
