Volume One, Chapter 17: The Alluring Wildcat Returns

Lin Yifan’s eyes lit up the moment he saw the bird egg! Hastily, he scooped it up and weighed it in his hand—it felt heavy. The only question was whether the egg was still good; if it was, he could enjoy quite a feast! Just then, a glowing screen suddenly flashed before his eyes.
[Golden Eagle Egg] (Incubatable)
Grade: Bronze
Incubation Requirements:
1 Wind Attribute Spirit Crystal
1 Fire Attribute Spirit Crystal
It could actually be incubated? Lin Yifan’s eyes brightened instantly. This egg could hatch! And it was a golden eagle egg. Although he had never seen a golden eagle before, he knew what an eagle was—a fierce bird of prey! If he could truly raise a golden eagle as a pet, it would be incredibly cool! However, upon seeing the incubation requirements, he couldn’t help but frown. What were spirit crystals? He had never even heard of them. It seemed unlikely he could hatch this golden eagle anytime soon. Still, knowing the conditions meant there would be a day when he could hatch it. So how could he consider this anything but a good find? Unfortunately, he didn’t trigger a harvest critical buff. Lin Yifan felt a slight regret but quickly pushed it aside and, satisfied, stored the nest and egg together in his ring space.
After climbing down the tree, he continued forward. Because of the need to clear the path, he could only cover one or two miles in an hour. Lin Yifan spent the entire morning trekking about ten miles, and besides the bird’s nest, he only managed to gather a few common herbs—nothing else. But he wasn’t discouraged; gathering resources depended on luck, and his morning haul was already quite good. After so much walking, he was genuinely tired and found a rock to sit on, pulling out a piece of toast and some water for lunch.
While eating, he opened the auction house and saw that the blueberries he’d listed that morning had all been exchanged for basic supplies. Fortunately, the auction house operated on the principle that once items were listed, they remained there. After someone traded for them, the exchanged items would appear in the original location. Before leaving, Lin Yifan had left all the blueberries in the shelter, so the basic supplies he received in exchange were all stored there as well.

This system made it convenient for those out gathering resources—they didn’t have to constantly monitor the auction house. After checking the auction results, Lin Yifan turned his attention to his private chat channel. It was completely flooded! Opening it, he found countless messages from people wanting to trade for toast. Some of the messages were rather entertaining, even making him a bit speechless.
“My dad is the governor of Jiangnan Province. Here’s your chance to win me over: just send me a pack of toast, and when we return to Earth, I’ll get you a government job!”
“We’re all Chinese compatriots. I advise you not to be selfish. If you have extra food, share it with us—we’ll appreciate your generosity.”
“Hey big brother, I’m a sexy little lamb—fair-skinned, beautiful, long legs, can be both a strong woman and a cute girl. Just give me two pieces of toast, and I’ll send you some photos in black stockings…”
“Bro, I have a bunch of handmade natural fertilizer. I want to trade it for your toast. Don’t be shameless—just agree quickly!”
…and so on.
Lin Yifan looked at these messages and unceremoniously blocked them all. Then he focused on the useful information. The allure of toast was strong—many were offering blueprints in exchange.
“[Wooden Table Blueprint] for 5 pieces of toast. Please reply if interested.”
“[Bench Blueprint] willing to trade for 6 pieces of toast. Hope you agree!”
“I have [Basic Water Purifier Blueprint], want to trade for 10 pieces of toast. Reply if yes.”
Wooden table and bench blueprints were not rare; several people had listed them. Lin Yifan picked the two cheapest offers and spent seven pieces of toast to acquire both. As for the Basic Water Purifier Blueprint, he hesitated but decided to get it. Although the rain meant water was plentiful now, who knew if that would last? It was always wise to collect blueprints.
Besides these basic infrastructure blueprints, Lin Yifan also spotted a weapon crafting blueprint:
[Black Iron Grade Hundred-Forged Blade Crafting Blueprint]
If he weren’t tempted, that would be a lie! But the price demanded was exorbitant—1600 grams of toast, equivalent to two large bags, plus 1000 grams of meat and 500 grams of blueberries. Clearly, even though Lin Yifan had hidden his ID, the other party had figured out it was him. Given the rarity of weapon blueprints, the price wasn’t unreasonable. The problem was, Lin Yifan had no meat left. The snake meat he had yesterday, aside from what he ate himself, had all been traded away for supplies. Unless he hunted a new beast, he had no meat to offer.

Still, he wanted that blueprint, so he replied:
“I can agree to the terms, but I don’t have meat right now. Either you replace the meat requirement with something else, or you let me owe you until I hunt some more meat.”
He didn’t expect anyone to accept such an IOU, especially since the other person also hid their ID. Yet, surprisingly, the other party agreed:
“Then I’ll just let you owe me for now! When you get more meat, just give me a little extra as interest!”
Seeing that familiar tone, a name flashed through Lin Yifan’s mind. He quickly messaged back: “Are you Sexy Little Wildcat?”
The coquettish way Sexy Little Wildcat spoke was unmistakable. Though many tried to imitate, none matched her charm. The hidden Sexy Little Wildcat immediately replied:
“Yes, it’s me! I went out looking for supplies today and found a green treasure chest after just a few steps. This blueprint came from that chest.”
“The moment I opened the blueprint, I knew it was meant for you, big brother! Only a strong person like you deserves such an advanced weapon, so I came straight to trade.”
“Brother Ye, don’t I treat you well? Please don’t forget me!”
Lin Yifan raised an eyebrow. He hadn’t expected this online celebrity to be so lucky—finding a treasure chest yesterday with rare mugwort, and today another chest with such a precious weapon blueprint. Such fortune was remarkable! He believed luck was part of strength; someone without even a bit of luck would find success difficult regardless of talent. Conversely, those with great fortune could succeed with ease. Especially in the survival realm, where living was never easy. Lin Yifan sensed this world valued luck highly—whether in finding treasure chests or gathering supplies, luck played a crucial role. Thus, he boldly speculated that to survive well here, good fortune was essential. Those blessed by luck would live better and longer than the unlucky. Naturally, he was inclined to befriend those with exceptional fortune. And since this person had taken the initiative to make friends, all he had to do was go along with it, no need to grovel.
