Lin Yifan’s face was filled with astonishment.

The last time he had heard of wild men was back on Earth, in the Shennongjia Forest!

Of course, it had eventually been proven that the so-called wild men were merely gorillas, with no connection to humans at all.

But here, in the Survival Realm, nothing was strange when it came to the appearance of unfamiliar creatures.

Of course, it was also possible that Sexy Little Wildcat had simply seen incorrectly.

After all, even during the day, this world was shrouded in mist. Although the fog was somewhat thinner around shelters, visibility generally did not exceed ten yards or so.

So it was entirely possible that she had mistaken what she saw.

Lin Yifan therefore asked:

“A wild man? Are you sure you didn’t see it wrong? Could it have been a gorilla?”

Sexy Little Wildcat had apparently been waiting for his reply and responded at once:

“No! I couldn’t have been mistaken. It wasn’t a gorilla. Back on Earth, I went to the zoo and saw gorillas before. There’s no way I wouldn’t recognize one. I can guarantee that it was a wild man.”

She sounded so certain that Lin Yifan became serious as well and typed:

“What did it look like?”

Sexy Little Wildcat replied immediately:

“I saw the wild man today while I was out searching for supplies. It was about five or six yards away from me. Because of the fog, I couldn’t make out its face clearly.”

“All I could see was that its hair was loose and disheveled. It was wearing a tattered black tracksuit and holding an axe.”

“An axe? What kind of axe?” Lin Yifan pressed.

Sexy Little Wildcat paused for a while before replying:

“I couldn’t see it very clearly, but its general shape looked quite similar to the beginner’s axe we were given when we first arrived in this world.”

Lin Yifan narrowed his eyes, forming a rough conclusion.

That thing was definitely not a wild man. If it truly were one, how could it possibly be wearing a tracksuit?

Most likely, there was another survivor’s shelter near Sexy Little Wildcat’s, and the two of them had crossed paths.

At that moment, another message arrived from Sexy Little Wildcat:

“Although I couldn’t see its face clearly, I did see its eyes. They were crimson—deeply, unnaturally red—and they gave off a faint glow in the mist. They looked a little like the blood moon hanging in the sky at night.”

“Whenever I look at that blood moon, I can’t help feeling uneasy. There’s something deeply sinister about it. Every time I see it, I get the urge to go mad.”

“And when I looked into that wild man’s eyes, I felt the same way. There was something utterly deranged about them. It even gave me the feeling that I was looking at a contaminated creature. It was as if staring at it for a few more seconds would contaminate me.”

Crimson eyes?

Could an ordinary person really have eyes of that color?

And they were glowing, too. That made it even more absurd!

The last time Lin Yifan had heard of someone’s eyes emitting light, it had been in the case of Ultraman.

But if it really was a wild man, why would it be wearing a tracksuit?

There was simply no way to explain that.

At that moment, Sexy Little Wildcat’s messages continued to arrive one after another:

“I also saw it swinging the axe and hacking wildly at things. As it struck, it let out a somewhat deranged howl, like a beast gone mad. It was terrifying.”

“My legs went weak with fear. Without thinking, I immediately turned and ran toward my shelter. But guess what? That wild man actually chased after me, and it was incredibly fast.”

“Fortunately, I wasn’t far from my shelter. Since I had started running first, I barely managed to get inside before it caught up with me.”

“After I entered the shelter, I peered through the crack in the door and saw it stop right where it was, as if someone had pressed a pause button. It didn’t move at all.”

“About ten minutes later, the wild man finally turned and entered the forest. I was afraid it might be hiding in there, so I didn’t dare go outside. I waited for two or three hours, but eventually I became so hungry that I had no choice but to leave and search for supplies.”

“Fortunately, it didn’t lie in wait for me. Otherwise, I feel like I’d already be dead.”

Even through the written messages, Lin Yifan could sense Sexy Little Wildcat’s lingering terror.

It was easy to understand. Anyone who encountered something like that would be shaken to the core.

Even Lin Yifan felt rather troubled. Although he still had no idea what this humanoid creature actually was, one thing was certain:

It was extremely aggressive.

More importantly, Lin Yifan could not help thinking of the eerie murmurs and whispers he had heard in the wilderness after nightfall.

At the time, he had also felt an uncontrollable urge to go mad. Those whispers had been able to suppress his reason and stir the violence within his heart.

If he had not returned to the safe house in time and had remained in the wilderness, then even if he had been able to resist for a while through sheer willpower, he would never have lasted through the entire night. He would have become a madman.

Therefore, if his guess was correct, the “wild man” Sexy Little Wildcat had seen was not a genuine wild man at all.

It was very likely another survivor who had been seduced by the murmured whispers during the night, eventually losing all reason and becoming a deranged one.

It seemed that in the future, even if some accident left him stranded outside after dark, he would have to return to his shelter as quickly as possible.

Otherwise, even if he escaped death at the jaws of a beast, he would probably still be transformed by those whispering voices into a madman who had completely lost himself.

However, since Sexy Little Wildcat had encountered a survivor who had become insane, that meant the shelters belonging to these survivors were probably not far apart.

It was simply that none of them currently had the ability to explore farther afield.

But sooner or later, the survivors would venture farther and farther out. When that day came, it would likely mark the beginning of a chaotic era.

In an environment where each day hung by a thread, no one should assume that meeting another human was a stroke of luck. That person might turn around and stab them in the back the very next moment.

Therefore, before the age of chaos arrived, he had to strengthen himself.

Only then would he be able to stand undefeated in the days to come.

At this point, having received no reply from Lin Yifan, Sexy Little Wildcat sent another message:

“Brother Yifan, are you still reading? If you are, could you help me figure out what I should do?”

“If that wild man comes back and I run into it again, I’ll definitely die.”

When Lin Yifan read Sexy Little Wildcat’s messages, he already had a few suspicions.

According to her account, after she ran back to her shelter, the “person” had stopped pursuing her.

This suggested that although the “person” could move freely in the wilderness, it was still subject to certain restrictions.

And those restrictions were likely connected to the shelters.

It probably could not enter a shelter, or perhaps could not approach one.

That was why it had immediately stopped chasing her after seeing its target enter the shelter.

But there was a problem: survivors had to leave their shelters to search for supplies. Otherwise, they would eventually starve to death.

For that reason, Lin Yifan discovered that he truly had no way to comfort Sexy Little Wildcat.
