Chapter Eighty-Four
Yi Xiaoyu didn't quite catch what Yi Yu mumbled at the end, so he continued, "As long as you're serious about this, that's good. By the way, what's your girlfriend's name?"
"He... his surname is the same as Brother You's."
"Is that so?" Boss You laughed. "Well, isn't that quite a coincidence."
"You what? Where does the family live?" Yi Xiaoyu asked.
"How many people are in the family? What do the parents do for a living?" Yi Dongjun inquired.
"Is she tall? What's her personality like?" Pei Xiang asked.
You Yi chimed in as well, "So, when are you planning to get married? I'll give you a big red envelope."
Faced with the group of people intently watching him, Yi Yu took a deep breath. Driven by the urge to rip off the bandage quickly, he declared loudly, "Let me just be honest with you all—the person I like is a man!"
"......"
"......"
"......"
"What did you just say?" Yi Xiaoyu suddenly slammed the table. "Say that again, I dare you!"
Yi Yu was startled by the thump, but quickly summoned his courage and retorted, "Don't yell at me. I learned that from you! Besides, why is it okay for you to like men but not for me?"
"You..." Yi Xiaoyu's face turned ashen with anger. All this time, he'd actually found some solace in having a younger brother with a different orientation from his own—a brother who could bring a woman home and continue the family line. But now...
"Anyway... you'd better be ready for me to bring a man home to meet you," Yi Yu said quickly, deciding to just get it over with. "I've never been interested in women. I only pretended to be, so you wouldn't worry."
"You're still young. Maybe it's just a phase," Yi Xiaoyu forced himself to stay calm, replying coolly, "You should try dating a woman. Maybe then..."
"Don't try to persuade me, brother," Yi Yu interrupted. "I've already set my heart on this one person. Besides him, I won't even look at another man or woman."
"You little brat!"
"Enough," Yi Dongjun sighed. "Your love lives are your own business. Your mother and I are getting old and don't have the energy to meddle. As long as you're happy, we don't care who you're with. Just hurry up and have kids so your mother and I can help raise them. Don't wait until we're gone and we never even meet our grandchildren." He glanced at Yi Xiaoyu with a hint of reproach in his eyes. "You've been married for two years now. It's time to think about having a child. Isn't surrogacy an option these days? You and Xiao You could each have one. If you're too busy with work, just let us take care of them."
"In fact, that's exactly what we've been planning," You Yi spoke up before Yi Xiaoyu could. "Don't worry, Dad. By next year at the latest, you'll be holding your grandchild."
You Yi had long wanted a child. With a child, his marriage to Yi Xiaoyu would be even more complete. But Yi Xiaoyu was always so focused on work, worried that having a child would stretch them too thin.
Yi Xiaoyu had wanted to tell his father not to rush—they were both still young. But seeing the white strands in his father's hair and the eager light in You Yi's eyes, he swallowed his words. Now, he found himself looking forward to it too—to raising a child together with You Yi.
"Now I can rest easy," Yi Dongjun laughed heartily. "Come on, Xiao You, have a few more drinks with me."
"Alright."
Before the meal was even over, Yi Yu couldn't help but run upstairs. As soon as he entered his room, he whipped out his phone and called You Hanzhe, excitedly telling him that his parents had agreed to their relationship.
You Hanzhe's voice was naturally cool and calm, but Yi Yu could sense relief in it. "That's really wonderful."
"Hehe, I wish I could fly over to see you right now."
"Mm, I miss you too."
Yi Yu cleared his throat a few times, then grinned and asked, "How much do you miss me?"
"A lot," You Hanzhe answered without hesitation.
Yi Yu suddenly felt his face grow warm. He lay on the bed, burying his face in the blanket. After a long while, he finally said, "Hanzhe, I want to kiss you."
There was a brief silence on the other end before You Hanzhe replied, "Where are you? I'll come find you right now."
