After endless years, when the vast universe kneels beneath his feet, Yao Xuan ascends the imperial throne and laughs proudly at all creation:
“Invincibility is truly this simple!”
Ruan Yuxiang had initially been secretly delighted, but now that she saw Xiao Feiyun leave with such determination, another wave of sorrow and disappointment overwhelmed her. She had wanted to chase after him at once, yet then thought that even if she caught up, it would probably be futile and only bring humiliation upon herself. In the end, she gave up.
The First Guard struggled to remain silent, trying to act as though nothing had happened, yet he could hear his own breathing, tense and nearly panicked.
I dreamed that Xia Jingxuan was hanging by a thread. At the final moment of his life, he stared straight at me with bloodthirsty eyes. Even after he breathed his last, his eyes remained open. Then the scene shifted, and there was his funeral—a grand funeral of tremendous scale. Such a simple vision was enough to jolt me awake.
Chu Tianqiu was rendered speechless by the question and could not answer. He knew perfectly well that he had once felt something for her, but that was all it had ever been: a passing stir of the heart.
As he spoke, Zhang Cheng slammed a palm onto the dining table. With a sharp bang, the steel tabletop sank slightly beneath his hand.
“Let’s go farther in and have a look. We might find something,” Zhao Qiuyang said, beginning to walk ahead.
“We’ve found the director. The vehicle entered the Yonghe Chemical Plant on the outskirts…” one of the policemen said.
“I’m afraid you people aren’t worthy of being called local tyrants,” a burly man in a suit sneered.
I froze for a moment, then rolled to the side. My chest struck a stone, scraping against it painfully. Blood soaked through my shirt, and even the ground was smeared with dark pools of it.
I did not cry, nor did I laugh. There was only calmness. It was strange. After facing something so horrifying, I could still remain this composed. I even took out my phone and found Xia Zhenxing’s number. After hesitating for a moment, I ultimately did not call.
The seduction of the two fox spirits failed to earn even the slightest favor from the Demon Emperor. It was as though that heartless creature were completely immune to them.
Lie Yashi felt a moment of disappointment. In his heart, there was ultimately no place for her; she could be abandoned at will.
“When I came back, I saw Lord Cai have a carriage prepared. He was taking Shuyuan to the provincial administration office. Didn’t Lord Cai discuss the matter with you?” Xin Yao asked as she handed Xin Kun some warm water.
Above the surface of the sea, the water column split down the middle into two and crashed thunderously back into the waves, sending up enormous swells dozens of meters high. Like a chain reaction, the other twenty-odd pillars of water collapsed one after another. In an instant, the entire sea churned violently, towering waves surging toward the heavens as though the ocean itself had exploded.
“Pleased to meet you.” Cai Guan waved a hand. He had never heard of the Jiangnan blacksmith Xin, so he rubbed his hands together, bent forward, and touched Xin Kun’s forehead.
“Do you people have any humanity at all? Every one of you is hiding to watch the spectacle. If someone actually dies, you’ll all be accomplices,” Ouyang Qing roared, his face livid.
Tiansheng suddenly thought of that green lamp. It was clearly the Myriad Buddhas Lamp he had only just subdued. But how had it appeared there as well? What role had it played in the process by which the world formed from the energies of yin and yang?
Seeing how Chacha had stepped in to ease the situation, Shen Yu could not say anything more. He glanced once at Han Chu and saw that she still wore an indifferent expression. Irritation immediately flared within him.
“What method?” Tiansheng’s eyes suddenly lit up. With a flicker of his figure, he was already beside Zhuiri. At that moment, Tiansheng was like a drowning man, and Zhuiri’s words were a lifeline thrown within reach. Whether or not that straw could pull him ashore, he had to seize it with all his strength.
