Chapter 107: You Truly Deserve to Die
If he really let them go this time, rescuing Leni Leng from the inferno again next time would be as difficult as ascending to the heavens. Lin Yang was well aware of this.
After much contemplation, he had no choice but to take the risk, even if it meant paying a heavy price.
What Lin Yang didn’t know was the mindset of the Leng brothers. Their mission was to eliminate him without a trace. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have stayed behind after he hid, risking everything to kill him—and even murdering five police officers in the process.
“No, no, Brother Yang, you have to leave now, quickly! They’re after you, I’ll be fine!” Leni Leng shouted hoarsely as she regained consciousness. Though strapped in with a seatbelt, the violent impact had left her dizzy. After all, she was just a young woman; her body couldn’t match that of a seasoned killer who had survived countless deadly battles.
Struggling, she adjusted her position, twisting her bound body with great effort. Summoning immense strength, she lifted her tied feet and gripped the car’s ceiling handle tightly. Then, she kicked the severely deformed door violently. The deafening crash of the door hitting the ground accompanied her slow, worm-like crawl out of the vehicle. After much exertion, she stood shakily and began to hop toward the roadside.
Fortunately, the dozen or so men were all focused on Lin Yang and ignored Leni. But her shout startled the two closest to her. When she saw them running toward her, fear caused her to stumble and lose balance, tumbling down the slope. She rolled helplessly down the steep hill, followed by a series of agonizing screams.
Upon hearing Leni’s cry and then her scream, Lin Yang’s fury ignited. Two figures appeared by the roadside where Leni had fallen. Seeing this, his anger soared—how dare they harm a girl? And she was one of the Leng family! Lin Yang’s rage promised severe consequences.
Kill. Kill. Kill.
At that moment, Lin Yang exploded like an enraged lion. Drawing the exquisite throwing knife that had saved many lives from his waist, he clenched it tightly in his right hand. With a powerful leap, he pounced on an enemy just five meters away.
There was no flashy display of skill—just a simple slash through the air. A bright gleam flashed, leaving a glaring streak of blood-red light. A black shadow flickered as a silenced pistol dropped to the ground. The enemy before him stared wide-eyed in disbelief, clutching his bleeding throat.
A single throat-sealing strike sent the body crashing to the ground. Lin Yang jumped and vanished once more into the darkness.
At this moment, calling him a phantom of the night was no exaggeration.
Grass and trees were undoubtedly a killer’s paradise in the dark. Though Leng brothers Leng Sha and Leng Tu moved swiftly, they were still a step too late. When they arrived, only their comrade’s corpse lay there, bleeding freely. Lin Yang’s figure had already disappeared without a trace.
“Boy, come out if you dare! Hiding like a coward—if I catch you, I’ll make you taste the world’s deadliest snake venom!” Leng Tu roared furiously, filled with rage.
Compared to Leng Tu’s impulsiveness, Leng Sha was much calmer and more mature. Even as comrades fell one after another, he remained composed, not allowing anger or hatred to cloud his judgment.
“Second Brother, calm down. Don’t worry, tonight will be the end of that brat. Don’t forget, we still have our trump card.” Patting Leng Tu heavily on the shoulder, Leng Sha’s face darkened, a cold smile curling his lips.
Hearing the words “trump card,” Leng Tu’s eyes lit up. Indeed! Even if that brat was formidable, the trump card would reduce him to ashes. But they both knew that it should only be used as a last resort, for once unleashed, they too might suffer consequences.
The police had sharp noses—if they were caught with any evidence, even the Leng family’s protection wouldn’t save them from severe repercussions. The young master himself would not spare them.
“Be careful. That kid uses the darkness and surroundings like a ghost—coming and going without a trace. Plus, he’s alone and a small target. He’s tough to deal with. Seems the young master was right—he’s really skilled,” Leng Sha muttered after examining the deaths of each of his men.
As assassins, many could deliver a fatal throat strike, but few could wield such terrifying precision and strength in a single blow.
One strike was all it took to kill. Leng Sha believed he could pull off a surprise attack, but matching the perfection of their opponent was a different matter entirely. That was why he mentioned the trump card—he was seriously considering using it. Even if it meant risking themselves, a killer must act decisively, regardless of consequences.
Having successfully drawn everyone’s attention, Lin Yang did the opposite of what they expected. Instead of seizing the opportunity to kill, he moved toward the spot where Leni had fallen. His greatest concern was her. The purpose of this dangerous venture was to bring her back.
Though the rustling leaves aided him, his footsteps were still detected by the formidable Leng Sha, whose gaze scanned Lin Yang’s flickering silhouette like a scanner.
“Bad, he’s heading toward the lady’s direction,” Leng Sha muttered darkly, then issued orders to his men: “Pursue! Don’t let him reach the lady first.”
Eight men scattered like a swarm of hornets, chasing after Lin Yang. Their right hands never rested; bullets flew relentlessly. Their goal was twofold: kill Lin Yang amid the chaos or at least block his path.
The gunfire was too dense. Though Lin Yang dodged left and right, he stumbled once when a tricky bullet grazed his right ankle. Though only scratching the skin, the sharp pain shot through him, causing him to grit his teeth and sweat to bead on his forehead.
The injury slowed his pace, but the enemies showed no signs of stopping; the gunfire intensified.
With his wounded ankle, his speed was greatly reduced. Helpless, Lin Yang hid himself temporarily, but his enemies pressed on relentlessly.
As they closed in on Leni Leng, Lin Yang grew anxious. He sheathed his throwing knife and drew the silenced pistol he had seized, firing back at the origin of the bullets. Though more skilled with knives, his marksmanship was dismal—he emptied the magazine without a single hit, a fact that embarrassed him.
He had expected this result when he initially refrained from using the pistol, but facing the reality was still frustrating.
Angrily discarding the pistol, he drew his throwing knives once more, quietly assessing the situation. Silently, he crawled backward, circled a small earth mound, and used the distraction of the group to sneak around behind them. Having learned from his previous mistake, he dared not openly rush toward Leni this time.
Meanwhile, Leni’s fall down the hillside was a pitiful sight. Her clothes were torn by sharp branches and vines, her body covered in countless scratches and bleeding wounds. Even her delicate face was not spared—a ten-centimeter gash oozed blood.
The slope was about a hundred meters high. During her tumble, her head struck tree trunks and rocks multiple times. When she finally came to rest, she was unconscious.
Despite Lin Yang’s haste, he was still too late. The first to reach Leni was the powerful Leng Sha. Seeing her battered state, he showed no mercy. He grabbed the unconscious girl roughly and handed her to Leng Tang, who had just arrived.
“Take her away. We’ll deal with that brat,” he said, his eyes fixed on Lin Yang.
As Leng Sha cruelly hoisted Leni, Lin Yang no longer intended stealth or ambush. Tightening his grip on the throwing knife, the fierce energy of the “Heavenly Spirit Thirteen Blades” surged wildly within him. Gathering his qi at his feet, he leapt like a nimble wildcat. His right hand slashed across his chest, the blade aimed at Leng Sha.
Seeing Lin Yang’s fierce charge, Leng Sha’s pupils constricted. A lifetime of killing hadn’t prepared him for the sheer murderous intent in this man’s eyes—it was like facing a wild beast.
Leng Sha prepared for hand-to-hand combat, the dignity of the strong fighting the strong. But the others were not about to stand idly by. Their only thought was to kill the brat here and now, avenging their fallen brothers.
Lin Yang darted through the hailstorm of bullets, his body burning with rage. Though grazed by bullets, he ignored the pain.
He had promised to bring Leni back, yet she was gravely injured. She would never have imagined this. The Leng family’s cruelty was on full display—even their own men showed no mercy to her. How could she expect a good outcome upon returning?
Mistakes come with a price, and now he was determined to collect the lives of these scoundrels.
Kill. Kill. Kill.
Never before had Lin Yang felt such overwhelming killing intent. Gripping his throwing knife, a bullet grazed his right arm, drawing another wound, but he seemed unfazed.
In the blink of an eye, he faced Leng Sha directly. The black night sky twinkled with a few stars. Tonight was destined to be a night of slaughter.
“You all deserve to die,” Lin Yang whispered as his throwing knife cut through the air.
