Chu Feng no longer dwelled on the matter and instead focused his thoughts on the path beneath their feet.

After the recent skirmish, Chu Feng understood that this long stretch of snowy road was fraught with danger, demanding constant vigilance. The group of four knew that if even one of them met with misfortune, it would spell serious trouble.

Bai Naizhao continued to lead, chest out and head held high, exuding an unyielding aura as if daring any foe or beast to challenge him.

Behind him, A Yan and A Ying were visibly more fearful, each step taken with trepidation, every slight rustle sending waves of anxiety through them.

Although all were at the sixth stage of the Body Refining period, guiding their energy similarly, A Yan and A Ying’s combat experience was nowhere near Chu Feng’s.

Since officially entering the martial world, Chu Feng had faced many formidable opponents. His trials within the secret chamber of the Tianji Mu family and his venture into the Wind and Thunder Stone Cave had provided invaluable opportunities to hone his battle instincts and adaptability.

Suddenly, a sharp whooshing sound echoed from a few yards ahead. Within a two-yard radius beneath A Yan’s feet, the ground abruptly gave way!

The sudden collapse caused a strange whooshing noise as the space itself seemed to shift.

Caught entirely off guard, A Yan plunged down with the collapsing earth.

At that moment, Chu Feng’s figure flashed like lightning. Without hesitation, he thrust his Thunder-Breaking Gale Spear—a spear over a yard long—forward. A Yan grasped the spearhead just as he was sinking, and the force channeled through it pulled him out, allowing him to stand steadily outside the pit.

That spear shot was undoubtedly a lifeline for A Yan.

The ground ceased its sinking, revealing a large, deep snow pit.

Within the pit, countless round snowballs, each about the size of a watermelon, swirled frantically at the bottom before surging toward the pit walls and vanishing.

The four exchanged startled glances.

Those were no ordinary snowballs—they were the venomous Shadowless Snow Mice.

Among the thousands of snow monsters in the Wuhansnow Mountains, the Shadowless Snow Mice were even deadlier than the Shadowless Snow Serpents. Concealed beneath thick snow, they could assess the number and strength of approaching warriors and decide whether to launch surprise attacks on the surface or to dig deadly pits underground.

While ambushes were troublesome, falling into their pits was far more perilous.

Once a warrior fell in, it was like a piece of fat meat in a wolf’s mouth. The swarm of watermelon-sized snow mice would overwhelm, their bites fatal even to warriors at the Iron Bone realm. Those at the Energy Guiding stage stood little chance, perhaps lasting only a few more breaths.

Thanks to Chu Feng’s timely spear, A Yan’s life was spared.

“Master Chu, thank you for saving me! Thank you, truly!” A Yan, still shaken, immediately bowed deeply to Chu Feng in gratitude, forgetting Bai Naizhao’s earlier warning against speaking freely on the snowy ridge.

Chu Feng nodded silently, saying little.

Bai Naizhao, too, did not chide A Yan for speaking out or reprimand Chu Feng for acting impulsively.

Among the four, Bai Naizhao was the strongest fighter—the only one at the seventh stage of Body Refining—and, walking ahead of A Yan, was the group’s pathfinder. He felt a pang of guilt for being unable to aid A Yan when he fell into danger.

Bai Naizhao’s avoidance of the pit was due to his superior agility and strength, his steps almost weightless as he skirted hidden traps beneath the snow—skills A Yan lacked.

Pointing ahead, Bai Naizhao signaled to continue forward.

As they resumed, Bai Naizhao maintained his lead, while A Yan and A Ying instinctively stepped back, distancing themselves from him and drawing closer to Chu Feng.

Throughout the journey in the harsh snowstorm, Chu Feng had saved both A Yan and A Ying once each. They both understood that though Bai Naizhao led the way with his formidable strength, Chu Feng was the one who would come to their rescue in a crisis.

Thus, they clung closer to Chu Feng, believing proximity to him offered greater security.

This effectively split the group into two clusters.

Bai Naizhao walked alone at the front, while Chu Feng accompanied A Yan and A Ying behind.

Chu Feng had expected Bai Naizhao to be displeased, perhaps accusing him of stealing the limelight or showing off, but Bai Naizhao merely lowered his head in silent contemplation.

Suddenly, a piercing howl broke from the dark clouds overhead.

Chu Feng’s heart stirred—such a resounding cry could only come from a sizable beast.

“It’s a Snow Mountain Serpent Eagle!” Bai Naizhao halted, murmuring the name with eyes wary and full of battle intent as he gazed toward the clouded sky.

Clearly, the Snow Mountain Serpent Eagle was more formidable than both the Shadowless Snow Mice and the Shadowless Snow Serpents.

“Wait until the serpent eagle approaches—don’t attack blindly! These birds are cunning, skilled in wearing down their foes. They aim to exhaust our strength and patience. Only strike when it’s within two yards of the ground, and make sure to land a decisive blow!” Bai Naizhao instructed the others, eyes fixed on the gloom above.

Another sharp screech sliced through the air.

From the clouds emerged a giant raptor, roughly the size of a millstone, its entire body armored with lead-gray scales that blended seamlessly with the overcast sky. Its head was unmistakably serpentine, yet its hooked beak curved like a scimitar—a fearsome and bizarre visage.

This was unmistakably the Snow Mountain Serpent Eagle.

With a loud cry, the first serpent eagle was joined by four more, forming a wedge formation as they surged through the stormy sky. Their powerful wingbeats stirred the clouds above and sent snow swirling beneath, announcing their fierce and unrelenting approach.

Compared to this aerial force, the four figures on the snowy ground seemed subdued.

Though A Yan and A Ying each brandished their long swords, their faces bore the marks of fear. Bai Naizhao stood bare-handed, exuding an aura of invincibility, yet his eyes betrayed his unease.

Chu Feng gripped his Thunder-Breaking Gale Spear, its tip shimmering faintly with electric energy, aimed directly at the five serpent eagles. Despite their intimidating appearance, Chu Feng did not consider them insurmountable foes.

He recalled his earlier battles with puppet war eagles in the high-level secret chamber of the Tianji Mu family. Though smaller than the serpent eagles, those war eagles possessed agility and striking power on par with these creatures.

The five serpent eagles circled in the sky for a moment, then the leader gave a piercing screech and the flock dove toward the four on the ground.
