Chapter 116: One Shot, Blood Spattered
Clearly, Bai Naizhao was struggling in the heat of battle, proving no match for the female ghost ape.
At that moment, although Chu Feng did not wish for any harm to come to him, he was powerless to offer support; the male Snow Mountain Ghost Ape pursuing him was an even more terrifying existence.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Chu Feng moved with the Gale Steps, sending massive, funnel-shaped wind pillars shooting toward the pursuing ghost ape while simultaneously accelerating his pace. Although the Gale Steps were the most basic martial art in the "Town Army Flying Dragon Dance Manual," their power grew alongside the practitioner's strength. Now, utilizing his Level Six Body Refining prowess, not only were the wind pillars larger and more ferocious, but his footwork had become increasingly mysterious and unpredictable—appearing ahead one moment and behind the next, then suddenly shifting from left to right.
Roar! Roar!
The Snow Mountain Ghost Ape, closing in behind, seemed determined to catch Chu Feng. After repeated failed attacks, its rage surged, and it began pounding the ground incessantly with its massive fists.
Whoosh!
Hearing the sound of a heavy object tearing through the air behind him, Chu Feng immediately dodged. A gargantuan snowball, imbued with the force of wind and thunder, shot past like a meteor, flying far beyond his line of sight without even touching the ground. Chu Feng felt a chill of secret alarm; the strength of this ghost ape was truly astonishing. It was clear that if he were to compete with it in raw power, he would be hopelessly outmatched.
The ghost ape’s massive palms were as large as door panels. With a casual sweep of the snow, it would clench its giant hand, instantly compressing a large pile of snow into a rock-hard sphere.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
One after another, these massive snowballs came hurtling through the air with extraordinary force. They were harder than ordinary stones; had one struck Chu Feng, he would have been dead or at least severely wounded. While dodging these projectiles with the Gale Steps, Chu Feng felt a surge of indignation. The ghost ape was far too arrogant, treating him like a cat playing with a mouse, unwilling to stop until he was dead.
As he ran, Chu Feng carefully observed the creature’s techniques and strengths. Known as the art of knowing oneself and the enemy to ensure victory, he realized the beast was inherently wild; to counterattack without first understanding its weaknesses would surely lead to his downfall.
The man and the beast ran for dozens of miles across the vast, snowy plains. In such an expanse, this distance was negligible; both could return to their starting point in an instant. Through this pursuit, Chu Feng learned that the ghost ape possessed incredibly savage strength, particularly in its thick forelimbs and fists, which were capable of crushing anything in their path. Its raw power, high attack capability, and massive stature were what made it far superior to ordinary wild beasts.
As he ran, Chu Feng suddenly halted. Amidst the swirling snow, he stood firm with his spear, waiting for the ghost ape to catch up. The beast possessed a degree of intelligence; after chasing and attacking Chu Feng for so long without inflicting a single scratch, it too realized that this human warrior was no easy prey.
Clang!
The ghost ape scooped up two massive snowballs in its giant palms, glaring at Chu Feng, yet it did not rush forward rashly.
"Maiden Threads the Needle!"
Chu Feng let out a sudden shout. A blur of motion followed as he lunged forward, spear and body becoming one, thrusting toward the creature's chest!
Clang!
The ghost ape reacted with lightning speed, blocking the thunderous strike with its thick arm, creating a deafening metallic ring. Clearly, its flesh was as tough as that of a practitioner at the Iron Bone stage—steel-boned and invulnerable, immune to ordinary attacks. Chu Feng’s strike had merely been a test; he retracted his weapon instantly.
"I couldn't even injure it with my Thunder-Breaking Gale Spear. Is there truly no way to defeat it unless I call upon the Thunder-Combined King Beast?" Chu Feng felt a flicker of dread, yet he was unwilling to give up.
Whoosh!
He retrieved his Moon-Piercing Flying Bead and flicked it directly at the creature’s abdomen.
Pfft!
This time, the sound was different. The high-penetration bead lived up to his expectations, not only striking the ghost ape but embedding itself deep into its belly. A streak of crimson blood seeped from the wound. However, the stain was pitifully small—only the size of a palm—and the wound merely oozed blood rather than exploding into the gaping, gory crater he had hoped for.
"Goo-goo!"
The ghost ape let out a strange sound, not even bothering to glance at the minor injury, completely ignoring the pain. The two guttural cries were clearly mocking, as if to say such an attack was nothing more than a mosquito bite. Chu Feng had to concede; for a creature of this size, such damage was negligible. He would need to strike thousands or tens of thousands of times to inflict a truly debilitating injury.
*This creature's physical body is far too formidable! I once used this bead to shatter the skull of Pan Ba, a Level Six Body Refining warrior, yet against this beast, it doesn't even break the skin!*
As he pondered, a flash of inspiration struck him. While the ghost ape’s body was incredibly tough, it was unlikely that every part was equally impenetrable. If he could strike a softer target, like the eyes, his chances of success would be much higher!
Once he thought of the eyes, his mind began to race. Was there any part of the ghost ape even softer and more vulnerable than its eyes?
Just then, his gaze sharpened, locking onto the creature’s lower abdomen!
There, hanging from the massive beast, was a spear-like protrusion, a full foot in length, standing erect like an enraged python with its dark red "head" held high. On either side of this "python" hung two white, fleshy sacks, each larger than a watermelon, dangling so low they nearly brushed the snow.
Seeing this, Chu Feng naturally understood what he was looking at—the beast's most vital organ.
*Damn it, it's huge! I wonder if it’s soft or hard right now? If I use the Moon-Piercing Flying Bead to strike that, wouldn't it be even more lethal than the eyes? Yes, that’s the plan!*
Staring into the creature’s terrifying eyes, a wicked smile curled across Chu Feng’s face.
Roar!
The ghost ape crouched, letting out a roar. Previously, it had been the one chasing and observing, but now the roles were reversed. It had caught up, but instead of attacking, it waited to see what the human would do, treating him like a cat toying with a mouse, in no hurry to deliver the killing blow.
"Skilled Maiden Threads the Needle!"
Chu Feng shouted again. In one fluid motion, he leaped into the air, thrusting his spear at the creature's right eye, while simultaneously flicking the bead held in his left hand toward its left eye!
This was a feint, designed to draw the beast’s attention and facilitate a strike elsewhere. Indeed, the ghost ape reacted with incredible speed, blocking the spear with its right arm and the bead with its left. Both attacks failed.
As Chu Feng landed, he found himself directly in front of the creature's lower abdomen. Seeing that white, pillar-like target, he didn't hesitate. With a loud grunt, he tensed every muscle in his body, unleashed his full power, and drove his spear directly into the beast's most vulnerable spot!
Pfft!
The sound confirmed that the Thunder-Breaking Gale Spear had successfully pierced flesh. Applying all his strength, Chu Feng drove the entire length of the spear, from tip to base, into the creature's groin.
A geyser of blood erupted!
The entire spear had skewered the ghost ape’s vital organ like a kebab.
