Chapter 128: The Ice Spirit Sea
On the vast snowfield blanketed by endless wind and snow, Chu Feng untied Bai Naizhao, A Yan, and A Ying. The four of them, along with Heng Mei, set off toward the Wuhann Woman Tribe.
“Chu Feng, what about that snow mountain demon ape that was chasing you? Did you kill it?” Bai Naizhao suddenly asked as they walked.
“That demon ape was first killed by me, then I roasted and ate it!” Chu Feng replied, noticing the doubtful look on Bai Naizhao’s face. “Why, you don’t believe me?”
“No, I don’t,” Bai Naizhao shook his head.
It wasn’t that Bai Naizhao deliberately underestimated Chu Feng; it was just that the snow mountain demon ape was incredibly powerful. With Chu Feng’s sixth-level Body Refinement strength, escaping from such a beast was already a stroke of luck. A mutually destructive fight would be difficult, let alone killing the demon ape and then eating its flesh.
Chu Feng had intended to show the remaining hundreds of pounds of “good meat” to Bai Naizhao to open his eyes but instead lowered his voice and said, “If you don’t believe me, ask her! She didn’t see me kill the demon ape, but she’s tasted its flesh and even praised how delicious it was!”
He pointed toward Heng Mei, who was walking ahead.
Bai Naizhao shook his head again, unwilling to casually converse with this powerful woman when there was serious business at hand.
“Chu Feng, shut up!” Heng Mei scolded coldly without turning her head.
But Chu Feng caught a glimpse of her profile and noticed a faint blush on her snow-white, delicate face.
No matter how cold or proud Heng Mei was, she was still a girl the same age as Chu Feng. If anyone found out she had once eaten the roasted “life root” of a snow mountain demon ape and even praised that particular cut, no matter how stern her words, her heart would be laughing wildly.
Heng Mei would never allow such a thing to be known and now regretted tasting that morsel of “good meat” Chu Feng had offered.
Bai Naizhao nodded to Chu Feng; Heng Mei’s command to “shut up” was an implicit admission that Chu Feng was telling the truth. Bai Naizhao couldn’t help but fall into thought—
When he had encountered the snow mountain demon ape with Chu Feng, Chu Feng had come out unscathed and even eaten the demon ape’s flesh, turning misfortune into fortune. Meanwhile, he, the esteemed Beast Tamer Chief, had been captured and bound like a prisoner, only to be rescued by Chu Feng.
Bai Naizhao felt deeply dejected, experiencing for the first time how powerless he seemed, especially in comparison to Chu Feng.
...
Half an hour later, after traveling over a hundred miles northward, a refreshing scene unfolded before them.
Ahead on the boundless snowfield, countless domed tents of various sizes were scattered. These tents were colorful and connected by snow paths winding between them.
From a distance, the snowfield resembled a vast chessboard, with the colorful domed tents acting as vibrant chess pieces connected by intricate routes.
The tents were arranged in an orderly fashion—some clustered in groups of five or six, others standing alone.
Chu Feng’s heart stirred as he realized these were the dwellings of the Wuhann Snow Tribe women, and their arrangement was deliberate, possibly following some formation or pattern.
He also noticed the tents were made of different materials—some wooden, some earthen, others metallic, and some shimmering with icy crystal surfaces.
There were even tents that appeared to be aflame, seemingly constructed from fire-glowing stones.
Because these tents corresponded to the Five Elements, their vivid colors concealed hidden mysteries.
Seeing this dazzling array of domed tents, Chu Feng and his companions knew that after braving the harsh winds and snow, they had finally arrived at the territory of the Wuhann Snow Tribe women.
“Greetings, Great Power Woman! I bring urgent news. The tribespeople sent to the Ice Nether Sea to capture the Ice Nether Mother Shell have yet to succeed, and many have begun to suffer physical ailments. Our tribe is in dire need of the Ice Shell Golden Pearls!” A female tribal leader riding a deer approached Heng Mei anxiously.
“Hm,” Heng Mei nodded and turned to Chu Feng and the others. “Chu Feng, wait here. Once we capture the Ice Nether Mother Shell, you can produce the Ice Shell Golden Pearls. Understood?”
Chu Feng shook his head. “What’s the point of waiting here? Since the Ice Nether Mother Shell needs to be captured, I’ll go to the Ice Nether Sea with you. The more hands, the better!”
Bai Naizhao quickly added, “Great Power Woman, the sect leader of Sikong sent us specifically to assist. We’re willing to go to the Ice Nether Sea and help capture the Ice Nether Mother Shell!”
Though Bai Naizhao, A Yan, and A Ying were slightly injured, they had only superficial wounds and were capable of contributing to the hunt.
With a clear, sharp sound, Heng Mei’s beautiful red lips parted and emitted a strange, resonant call directed at the pristine clouds above.
Moments later, the clouds parted with a rush of wind, and five snow-white giant eagles, each the size of a millstone, circled down and landed before Chu Feng and the others.
Chu Feng admired silently—Heng Mei’s exquisite lips were truly a marvelous existence, able to release breath blades to slay enemies, emit strange sounds to frighten away or attract beasts.
What a rare and wonderful mouth—how she had trained it, Chu Feng wondered.
“Mount the Wuhann Snow Eagles. We head to the Ice Nether Sea!” Heng Mei declared before leaping onto one of the giant, snowy birds.
Chu Feng, Bai Naizhao, A Yan, and A Ying followed without hesitation.
With a loud cry, the five Wuhann Snow Eagles soared into the sky, heading straight for the Northern Territory.
Looking down from the snow eagle’s back, Chu Feng finally understood the vastness of the Wuhann Snow Tribe women’s domain.
From here to the Ice Nether Sea at the far north was more than two thousand miles, and throughout their flight, the colorful tents of the tribe remained visible across the snowfield.
The Wuhann Woman Tribe numbered twenty-eight thousand, scattered sparsely over this expansive snowfield—a typical case of vast land with few inhabitants.
Of course, no outsiders could settle in this bitterly cold and snowy wasteland besides the Wuhann Snow Tribe.
Two hours later, the five snow eagles gradually slowed.
Chu Feng gazed into the distance and saw an endless icy sea stretching out before him.
The Ice Nether Sea was reached!
The sea appeared as one solid sheet of ice; Chu Feng saw nothing but an unending expanse of ice with no visible water.
The sky above was leaden gray, devoid of sunlight, yet the ice reflected a dazzling, piercing chill like a giant icy mirror.
Covering the ice sea was a thick fog, and through it, Chu Feng spotted many beasts of varying sizes moving about.
The five snow eagles descended and landed at the shore of the Ice Nether Sea.
Standing there, Chu Feng felt an intense cold that seemed to penetrate through him, chilling his bones, blood, and flesh deeply.
Chu Feng, A Yan, and A Ying had all drunk Snow Scorpion Fire Wine, which helped resist the cold somewhat, but Bai Naizhao shivered and quickly swallowed two Fire Yang Pills to stave off the chill.
“All right, everyone, enter the Ice Nether Sea and search separately for the Ice Nether Mother Shell! If you find any large ones, be sure to alert the surrounding tribespeople so we can deal with them together!” Heng Mei instructed coolly, glancing at Chu Feng.
“By the way, it was said many women of the tribe would be here to catch the Ice Nether Mother Shell. Why haven’t I seen a single one?” Chu Feng asked curiously.
“They’re deep inside the Ice Nether Sea. Keep going inward, and you’ll see them! Here, take this guide fish. You can catch the Ice Nether Mother Shell in the western sea area of the Ice Nether Sea, but don’t approach the eastern sea area!” Heng Mei said before swiftly disappearing into the icy sea.
Chu Feng took the guide fish and asked, “Right now, the four of us—should we enter the Ice Nether Sea together or split up?”
“I have some experience, so I’ll search one path myself. You three go another way. A Yan and A Ying aren’t strong fighters but are inexperienced with the Ice Nether Mother Shell’s behavior; they can assist you,” Bai Naizhao suggested.
“All right, let’s do that!” Chu Feng agreed.
With that, the four divided into two groups, and Bai Naizhao, Chu Feng, and the others swiftly entered the Ice Nether Sea.
