Chapter Fifty: Come On! Let's Hurt Each Other!
“Damn it…”
Wang Xiao was at a loss for words—these “demons” weren’t the same kind of Karami as last night.
Ji Weijie and the others realized it too, the moment they encountered the demons.
Last night, cutting them down was as easy as slicing melons and vegetables, but now, their strength seemed to desert them.
“Shit! Something’s wrong! These things just won’t die!”
Someone exclaimed, cold sweat breaking out on his back as the realization dawned.
Wang Xiao, naturally, heard their cries of alarm and felt a slight sense of reassurance.
As long as you understand, just get out… retreat?
!
“Brothers! Let’s fight these ‘demons’ to the death!”
“To the death!!!”
“Charge!!!”
Ah, the pain—both physical and emotional.
The crow-like demon grinned, revealing jagged teeth. “So you’re human, after all! Let me send you to the afterlife!”
Its other claw pierced Wang Xiao’s waist with a sickening squelch.
“Damn it! My kidney!”
Wang Xiao gritted his teeth. If you want to kill me, then kill me—but what the hell is stabbing me in the kidney supposed to mean!?
He seized the demon’s claw with both hands, stepping in even closer.
“What’s this? Want a quick death?” the crow demon mocked.
Wang Xiao was in so much pain he couldn’t speak, but he could still activate his skill.
Art is an explosion!
The blast, imbued with soul-crushing force, lit up the entire area with raw, violent energy.
Boom!!!
Ji Weijie’s eyes filled with tears in an instant. “Brothers! Avenge the Lord of the City!”
Though the fury lent Ji Weijie great strength, it wasn’t enough to let him fight beyond his limits.
A single sweep from a fifth-rank demon sent him flying, blood spilling from his mouth as he crashed down in utter defeat.
The army fell like a landslide, and casualties began to mount in Infinity City.
Fortunately, with Xiaogu’s support, the losses were kept to a minimum.
But whether Infinity City could hold out remained an open question.
Crash—
A figure emerged from the flames.
Hope flickered in the eyes of everyone in Infinity City—but reality doesn’t toy with hope.
The crow demon let out a furious roar, its wings beating the air in rage.
It took a long moment for the flames on its body to subside.
Now, several holes had torn through its wings, and even its armored hide was scratched and battered.
Worst of all were its claws—of the original four talons, only two remained.
It was absolutely livid, though all these wounds would eventually heal.
But it would take time—and not a little.
Just as the demon seethed with rage, a figure stood up again.
Ji Weijie and the others, watching from afar, couldn’t see clearly.
But the crow demon could: apart from his tattered clothes, Wang Xiao was completely unscathed.
The demon howled, “Who the hell are you?!”
Wang Xiao smiled. “What’s the matter? Are you raging because you’re helpless?”
The demon’s lips twisted into an evil grin. “Very well! I’ll slaughter these humans first, and then I’ll come back to play with you!”
But Wang Xiao simply spat a wad of phlegm onto the demon.
“Idiot! Come and fight me if you’ve got the guts!”
It was as if the demon had been bewitched—it abandoned its path toward Infinity City and charged straight at Wang Xiao.
Seeing the demon, wordless and bent on tearing him apart, Wang Xiao unfurled the wings on his back and began to flee.
But his escape route was no accident: he was heading straight for the fifth-rank demons.
The crow demon, lost in a frenzy, attacked Wang Xiao relentlessly.
Each time its claws pierced Wang Xiao’s body, Wang Xiao detonated another self-destruct skill.
The demon was blasted away—while the fifth-rank demons were simply obliterated, reduced to nothingness.
The people of Infinity City watched, their eyes wide with disbelief.
There wasn’t even a trace of ash left behind!
Ji Weijie shouted the Lord’s praises, but his feet retreated all the same.
Wang Xiao noticed—one person backing away was one thing, but why was everyone retreating?
Even Xiaogu, that guy, was backing away!
Were they serious about this?
The crow demon, dazed by the repeated explosions, gradually regained its senses.
Just as it was about to react, another wad of phlegm splattered across its face.
How could anyone put up with that!?
The chase was endless!
The crow demon pursued Wang Xiao, who exploded again and again.
Flames shot skyward; to anyone who didn’t know better, it would have looked like a fireworks show.
At first, Ji Weijie and the others were worried, but the sight of Wang Xiao walking out from each explosion reassured them.
They realized this was no ordinary man—a real man never looks back at an explosion!
That’s what they believed Wang Xiao was: a true man.
If Wang Xiao knew, he would have retorted, “I’m literally exploding—what’s there to look at, anyway?”
On the city walls, Avril’s tension gave way to calm.
It was because, every time Wang Xiao emerged from the flames, he would toss out a snarky remark.
Meanwhile, the crow demon, acting like a fool, chased him relentlessly.
Seriously, wasn’t this all a bit much?
The whole scene shifted from grim to absurd—what should have been a deadly encounter now felt like a farce.
You chase, I flee; you chase again, I flee again.
And in the end, when there was nowhere left to run,
Fine, I flip the table and explode right in your face—how does that make you feel?
The flames raged for a long time, until only Wang Xiao and the crow demon remained.
Wang Xiao stood unharmed, but the demon was utterly ruined.
One wing was completely gone, the other reduced to half.
Its claws had vanished; it couldn’t even aspire to be a one-armed hero like Yang Guo.
Pitiful.
Wang Xiao stopped taunting and instead regarded the demon with smug satisfaction.
“Weren’t you arrogant a moment ago, brother?”
“Come on! Keep going! Let’s hurt each other some more!”
On his face was the unmistakable look of a villain relishing victory.
Tsk, who would’ve thought Wang Xiao could be like this.
The crow demon slumped on the ground, drowning in regret.
It wanted to cry, but the previous frenzy hadn’t truly been itself.
Why had it kept fighting this idiot?
Though it thought all this, it wouldn’t let itself lose face.
The harsh words had to be said!
“Nicholas! I still have a final move left! If you’ve got the guts, take it head-on!”
“If you withstand it, I’ll let you do as you please!”
Wang Xiao scoffed, “Tsk, even if you had ten final moves, you wouldn’t kill me!”
I really do sound like a villain, Wang Xiao thought to himself.
Though he spoke with bravado, he had no intention of giving the demon a chance.
He spread his wings—strike when your enemy’s down!
Now that’s what being a real villain is about!
The crow demon’s face collapsed. Clearly, you can’t reason with this man.
Fortunately, its move was lightning quick.
A gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years. I’m out of here!
A vortex of chaos swirled open on the ground, and the demon’s body began to sink into it.
Farewell, then!
Wang Xiao didn’t hesitate—he seized what remained of the demon’s wing.
Time to blow!
But the expected explosion never came; only a rapidly shrinking hole remained.
And with a thud, the hole vanished.
Wang Xiao was gone, too.
