Chapter 38: Bloody Lisa
Wu Gang emerged from Chen Yu’s office, his face marked by deep confusion. “Wang Ji…?” he muttered under his breath, clutching the pass given by Chen Yu as he followed a soldier toward the entrance of the underground base.
At that very moment, the market inside the base was alive with bustling voices, indicating it was the busiest time of day. Lisa and Baldy had parked their car and were strolling slowly down the street, both of them filled with curiosity—it was their first time entering a base primarily run by survivors.
“Lisa, stop wandering around. Just buy some food and water, and let’s head back. I reckon the captain’s probably wrapping things up by now,” Baldy said helplessly, glancing at the woman swaying her hips ahead. The stares from passersby made him uncomfortable.
Lisa, on the contrary, relished the attention. She walked with even greater flourish, her long, pale legs on full display. When she saw a man suddenly get a nosebleed, she covered her mouth and giggled coquettishly.
“Baldy, it’s so rare to get out and have some fun—let’s relax a bit!”
“Ugh, as long as you hurry up and buy what we need. If you’re not going, I’ll go buy it myself!” Baldy replied impatiently. He’d never liked shopping with women, even before the apocalypse.
Lisa only seemed more delighted, urging him on, “Go, go! I’m sick of looking at your shiny head all day anyway!”
Baldy rubbed his scarf-wrapped head and watched Lisa stride off with resignation.
Freed from her tail, Lisa, in high spirits, made her way to the center of the market, the area under the control of the most powerful factions, where the best goods in the base were sold.
She glanced around, then headed for a shop selling weapons, armor, and military rations.
At the door lounged a cocky-looking young man, half-asleep in his chair. Suddenly, a waft of perfume reached him, and he looked up, stunned by the sight of two dazzlingly white legs.
“Hey there, handsome~”
Lisa’s honeyed voice startled the young man so much it was as if he’d just climaxed.
“Ah—beautiful lady, are you here to buy something?” he stammered.
Lisa nodded, feigning innocence as she ran a finger over a pistol on the table and smiled. “Handsome, I want to buy a gun for self-defense. There are so many bad people these days, I’m so scared~!”
Now seeing her angelic face and devilish figure up close, the young man swallowed hard. “Um… big… very big…”
Lisa noticed his lecherous gaze glued to her chest, a chill flashing in her eyes. She leaned in and said sweetly, “Handsome, are you talking about a big gun? I’m so little, I’m afraid I can’t even hold it!”
The youth was utterly entranced now, grinning lasciviously as he reached out to grab Lisa’s arm. “Miss, this is the base’s biggest weapons shop. We have all the big guns you want. Come inside and have a look with me.”
Lisa stepped back slightly, saying, “Handsome, are you sure there are people inside? My mother always told me not to trust strangers.”
The young man was completely untroubled, seeing Lisa alone and burning with desire. “Come on, how could I ever lie to you?” he said, pulling her into the shop.
From the shop next door, two men at the entrance sighed, shook their heads, and went inside.
The youth, gripping Lisa’s hand, called excitedly upstairs, “Bear! Come down—there’s a beautiful woman here who wants a big gun!”
Footsteps thundered on the stairs. Down came a burly man, bare-chested, his chest matted with thick, sweaty hair. At the sight of Lisa, he looked like a man reborn.
“Ah, miss, here to buy weapons? Let me take you upstairs for a look!” Bear said, beaming.
Lisa put on a look of fear, trying to pull away. “No, I want to leave. I don’t want to buy anything!”
Bear grinned, holding her fast. “Don’t be like that, miss. Since you’re here, come upstairs with me—I’ll show you the big guns~”
He and the young man exchanged a knowing look and laughed wickedly, dragging Lisa upstairs.
“You stay down here. Wait till we’ve had our fun, then you can have your turn!” Bear ordered a scrawny thug, shoving Lisa into a back room.
The little thug cursed quietly and slowly made his way downstairs, leaving the lust-crazed men smiling as they entered the room.
“Come on, play with us for a while. We’ll show you a big gun,” Bear said, impatiently pulling down his pants.
Lisa cowered in the corner of the bed, screaming for them to stay away, her frail appearance making the men’s desire almost palpable.
“Don’t be scared—here I come!” Bear lunged at her first.
Amid the chaos and laughter, a bloodcurdling scream suddenly rang out.
Bear stared in disbelief at the girl who had seemed so meek and helpless. She was now transformed, holding a gleaming crescent dagger, her eyes cold as a demon’s.
Between his legs, a pool of blood and something severed—his own manhood. Realization struck, and as Bear tried to cry out, the dagger flashed again and again. He knelt on the bed, body shaking as arterial blood sprayed everywhere.
“A ghost! A ghost!” someone shrieked.
“A demon! She’s a demon—run!”
“Ah!”
“No, please don’t kill me!”
The room erupted in chaos before falling silent.
The scrawny thug, hearing the commotion, ran upstairs, calling out, “Bear! Don’t get too carried away—save some for me…”
He froze at the sight inside. Blood spattered the walls, severed limbs littered the floor, and the air was thick with the stench of death.
At the center stood a woman, her face panicked, dagger still dripping blood, standing like a lotus in the mud.
“Murder! Murder!” The thug screamed in terror, bolting downstairs and out into the street, shouting all the while.
Behind him, Lisa’s lips curled into a strange smile as she calmly sat down on the bed once more.
Passersby stared curiously, and soon a crowd gathered, watching as the thug writhed and screamed in terror.
A moment later, whistles and the sound of patrolling soldiers’ boots approached rapidly.
Baldy, hearing the commotion, glanced over from afar, cursed under his breath, and dashed toward the military camp.
“What happened? Move aside! Don’t crowd around!” a patrolling soldier shouted, grabbing the thug.
The thug, still shaken, pointed upstairs, babbling, “Up there… murder… they’re all dead!”
The soldier’s face went pale as he led men inside. At the grisly scene, he glanced at the shivering Lisa as she hastily dressed.
“Who are you? Who killed them?”
Lisa wept, shaking her head and refusing to answer.
The soldier felt overwhelmed—the corpses littering the floor meant at least five or six dead, far beyond his authority. He quickly ordered the area sealed and sent someone to report the incident.
“Commander! There’s been a violent murder in the market—six dead. Our people are securing the scene now.”
Chen Yu’s brow furrowed. “Who would dare commit murder so brazenly in my base?”
“Uh… Commander, you’d better come see for yourself. It seems to involve someone who came with Captain Wu.”
After a moment’s silence, Chen Yu rose and strapped on his handgun. “Let’s go.”
Wu Gang, meanwhile, had just received a message from Baldy. He set aside his supply requisition list, his face darkening as he strode outside.
Veins bulged on his forehead as he took a few deep breaths, barely containing his fury. “Let’s go look!”
News of the slaughter spread quickly through the base, drawing an ever-growing crowd to the market.
Wu Gang and Chen Yu arrived almost at the same time. Exchanging a glance, they entered the shop together.
At the sight of Wu Gang, Lisa burst into tears and threw herself into his arms. “Captain, you’re finally here! I was so scared!”
Wu Gang held her, frowning. With so many complications on Chen Yu’s turf, he began considering how best to handle the situation.
“What happened?” Chen Yu demanded coldly after surveying the brutal carnage.
Lisa looked up from Wu Gang’s embrace. “Commander, they were bad men! Baldy and I came to buy supplies, and they tricked me upstairs. They… they tried to… so I grabbed a knife and… Captain, they were terrifying!” She played the trembling victim to perfection.
Chen Yu glanced at Lisa and shook his head slightly; he found it hard to believe a delicate woman could slay six men.
“Were there any others? Have you questioned everyone?” he asked the patrol leader.
The patrol leader shook his head. “The room was closed. We questioned the man downstairs—there was no one else.”
Chen Yu stepped inside heavily, examining the scene closely. A chill ran through him—the wounds on the bodies were expertly inflicted, all fatal.
“This woman is no ordinary person,” Chen Yu muttered, taking a deep breath and stepping back out.
“Captain Wu, the witnesses and the scene are all here. How do you explain this?” Chen Yu’s mood was foul; even if the other party had a military background, he couldn’t tolerate chaos on his turf.
Wu Gang released Lisa and replied calmly, “Commander Chen, you heard it yourself. These men tried to rape Lisa—she acted in self-defense.”
Murmurs from the crowd outside agreed, cursing Bear and his gang for their many previous crimes against women.
Chen Yu shot a gloomy look at Sun Guoyao, who shook his head and whispered a few words in Chen Yu’s ear.
“Very well, then. The case is clear. Li Jianxiong and his men attempted rape and murder, but were killed in self-defense by the victim. Clean up the scene and disperse the crowd!”
Chen Yu left with his men, his expression dark. As he passed Wu Gang, he murmured, “I don’t want to see anything like this again.”
The army moved efficiently; within ten minutes, the crowd was dispersed and the bodies removed.
Wu Gang and his three teammates remained.
“Hmph, filthy men, trying to take advantage of me!” Lisa spat once they were alone.
Wu Gang slapped her hard across the face. “Get back to the base and file your report! Don’t get in my way here!”
Lisa held her cheek, staring at Wu Gang in disbelief. “You… you hit me! I hate you!”
Tears streaming down her face, she ran out.
Wu Gang watched her go, then punched the wall in frustration, leaving a deep dent.
“What the hell is all this shit?!”
After a long moment, Wu Gang calmed himself.
“Fatty, you and Lisa return to base. Things have changed here. I’ll send my report later. When you get back, make a priority of investigating the background of a certain Wang Ji from F City!”
